Beside Chen Chongchong stood several men in suits from Europe.
"I forgot to tell you, Ni Xingyi, Mr. John has already agreed to rent this venue to me, so you can't hold your fashion show here tomorrow," Chen Chongchong said with a smile, glancing at the middle-aged white man with a scruffy beard beside her.
Upon hearing this, Ni Xingyi immediately felt anxious.
"Mr. John, this can't be! We signed a contract!" Ni Xingyi hurriedly replied.
"Miss Ni, I'm afraid you'll have to look for another place. As for the contract, we will compensate you according to the breach of contract terms," John said with a smile.
"This isn't just about breach of contract! How can you be so untrustworthy? We rented this place first!" Ni Xingyi exclaimed in distress.
"This is just a private fashion show, not an official one. Besides, as a small designer like you hosting it at your own expense, finding another venue won't affect anything. It's not like there will be any media coverage," John mocked.
Since Chen Chongchong had called the owner of the venue, it was clear she had already bribed him; there was no point in Ni Xingyi saying anything further.
Ni Xingyi was so furious she felt like spitting blood, her gaze towards Chen Chongchong seemed as if she could tear her apart.
"Chen Chongchong, is this really how you want to play it?" Ni Xingyi asked, her tone filled with resentment as she suppressed her anger.
"Very much so. By the way, Ni Xingyi, I have a show at Lirenni Garden tomorrow afternoon. You can come and see; many veterans from the design industry will be there to support me. Since we were classmates, I'll give you a free ticket. Honestly, I feel sorry for you; you've achieved nothing despite your talent. Let me help you out—I've recently established a fashion design company. Why don't you come work for us? If you become our fashion designer, I'll promote your work," Chen Chongchong said with a smile.
"Dream on," Ni Xingyi retorted angrily.
"If it weren't for our past as classmates, do you think I'd offer you this opportunity? Holding your own fashion show at Lirenni Garden is just an unreachable dream for you while I've already held several shows," Chen Chongchong said proudly.
"So what if you've held several shows? I haven't seen any waves being made by them. There are things I don't want to say, but you're pushing it too far. You know your own design level; your standing in the design world is all thanks to your boyfriend," Ni Xingyi shot back coldly.
Chen Chongchong's boyfriend was the world-renowned designer Kenner. Although Kenner's design talent was remarkable, his personal life was chaotic—he had been divorced five times and was now in his seventies yet had rekindled a relationship with Chen Chongchong.
Over the years, Chen Chongchong had gained fame in the design world by clinging to Kenner's coattails. Otherwise, with her design skills, how could she possibly hold a personal fashion show at Lirenni Garden?
But one had to admit that Chen Chongchong was quite resilient; she was willing to associate with an old man for fame while smiling at the cameras every day. The old man's granddaughter was about the same age as her; of course, since Chen Chongchong claimed it was true love, outsiders couldn't say much about it.
"Heh, lacking connections and being jealous of mine—Ni Xingyi, I've told you before that in this society, connections are key to success. The gap between us has become like heaven and earth; I can't be bothered to argue with you anymore. Tomorrow afternoon at Lirenni Garden—I hope you'll come. Your designs are outdated and it's time for you to see my stunning creations," Chen Chongchong said as she took out a ticket for tomorrow from her Chanel bag and placed it on a nearby chair before turning and leaving gracefully.
