This meal felt like an early celebration for many villagers. It was good, but they still felt a bit unsatisfied.
"Aunt Wang, when will your family hold another celebration?"
As soon as the man finished speaking, laughter erupted from the crowd.
"Our family has celebrations every day!"
The Little Old Lady laughed so hard her face, once marked by hardship and sorrow, now appeared increasingly kind and gentle.
"Of course! Aunt Wang has a wonderful granddaughter; the days ahead will be filled with good food and happiness!"
Everyone joined in the merriment, making the Little Old Lady even happier. However, despite her joy, she felt a pang of worry. Her Great-Granddaughter was about to attend university in Jing City, and she couldn't bear the thought of it.
Mother Yu shared the same sentiment. Although her daughter had successfully gotten into university, bringing pride to their family, a mother’s worry never fades. Thankfully, Zhao would be there with her; otherwise, how could they ever feel at ease?
As everyone finished their meal, the Little Old Lady instructed several village women to tidy up the large pot of food and distribute some for everyone to take home.
"Aunt Wang, I feel so bad taking so much!"
Sister Chen, who had helped organize the feast, had five children and her husband with her; a total of seven people from her family had come. It truly felt a bit embarrassing to eat and take home food at the same time.
"Feeling bad? Just give it to me!"
Cao Pozi didn’t care about that at all and tried to snatch Sister Chen’s bowl away.
"Hey, this bowl is from my own home! If you want it, go get your own!"
Sister Chen wouldn’t let her take it easily. She immediately hugged the bowl to her chest like a puppy guarding its food.
The Little Old Lady picked up a large bowl from her home, filled it with vegetables, and handed it to Cao Pozi.
"Sister, thanks to you this time for organizing everything so well!"
Cao Pozi took the dish and felt a bit embarrassed.
"Ah, Old Sister, if you need anything in the future, just let me know. I will definitely do my best to help!"
Cao Pozi smiled brightly, thinking that this bowl would surely be returned, and with this exchange, they had formed a connection.
Sister Chen felt a bit displeased but didn't want to show it in front of the Little Old Lady.
They spent a full hour enjoying the meal, and by the time they finished, most people had left, leaving only a few women to help clean up. The children were reluctant to leave, as the cigarette boxes and candy wrappers scattered around the yard were treasures to them.
After leaving the small courtyard, Yu Suihuan locked the door and entered her space. Outside the stone cave, several houses had already been built, and she decided not to open her cave again.
It was impossible for others to enter the cave from outside since there was no button to do so.
After gathering a batch of Zheng Ban, Yu Suihuan planned to take some time to turn them into delicious Xian Zhi Bing because eating them directly might not yield the best taste.
Stepping out of the stone cave, Yu Suihuan was stunned by the sight before her.
Everywhere she looked had been divided into areas filled with various crops. In addition to the Yao Garden and orchard, there was now a Vegetable Garden and a vast Grain Field. The crops in the grain field were robust and plump, indicating they hadn't been harvested yet.
The newly built houses had a whimsical charm, with irregular shapes and vibrant colors. They resembled what she and her friends used to draw on paper as children; it was clearly Bai Jie's handiwork.
Beside the houses were windmills, swings, and rocking horses, all reminiscent of that childhood drawing.
Yu Suihuan approached one of the small houses with great interest. It had only been a few days; their efficiency was impressive!
"Yu Suihuan?"
