Yu Songyu wandered alone near the coffee shop, equipped with a listening device. It wasn't long before someone approached her. Perhaps due to the crowd around the coffee shop, it was inconvenient for them to act directly. The visitor politely invited Yu Songyu inside.
She was led to a private room, and just as she sat down, Chen Luzhi pushed the door open and entered.
"Didn't I tell you to get lost? How shameless can you be to come back?" Yu Songyu shot back.
Chen Luzhi guessed that Yu Songyu had come seeking help regarding Bai Jie's parents. A quick glance revealed a hint of fatigue in Chen Luzhi's eyes. She must have known about her parents' situation, but unfortunately, she hadn't returned home to sleep last night; otherwise, she might have avoided this predicament.
"Weren't you the one who invited me in?" Yu Songyu replied dismissively.
"You know that's not what I meant. You'd better put away that high-and-mighty attitude in front of me. Who do you think you are?"
Chen Luzhi felt a sting from Yu Songyu's disdainful gaze. She was done playing games; after all, Yu Songyu was like fish on a chopping board at this point.
"Where are Bai Jie's parents?" Yu Songyu's tone turned icy.
"Want to know? What will you offer me in exchange?"
Very well, there was no denial; her words would surely be picked up by the listening device.
"I will!"
"You? Last time you revealed your trump card, didn't you intend to let me go? Just release Bai Jie's parents, and I will let you handle me as you wish!"
"Look at you, that smug expression is truly repulsive!"
Chen Luzhi hated Yu Songyu's calm demeanor. She wanted to deeply wound her for her own satisfaction.
"Cut the nonsense! I want to see them and confirm they are safe!"
"Hmph! Do you really think you still have the right to negotiate with me?"
She had thought that Yu Songyu would hide away, but unexpectedly, for the sake of someone else's parents, she had come to confront her directly, which was quite foolish.
Chen Luzhi dialed Uncle Ming's number.
"Uncle Ming, yes, she's right here with me!" Chen Luzhi shot a fierce glare at Yu Songyu as she spoke, her lips curling into a smile that was somewhat sinister. "I’ve already said it; I need to see that person is okay! Have them video call me!"
Yu Songyu raised her voice, intending for the person on the other end of the line to hear her.
"Save it! Who do you think you are?"
Chen Luzhi scoffed; in her eyes, Yu Songyu was nothing but a complete fool.
"What did you say?"
As Chen Luzhi answered the call, her expression suddenly turned anxious.
"How could you—"
Her voice trembled, seemingly realizing that Yu Songyu was still present, so she only managed to say half of what she intended.
"It’s their own stubbornness; while our people were away, they bit their tongues and swallowed them, choking in the process."
Chen Luzhi's face was filled with horror. She hated Yu Songyu but never expected things would escalate to this extent.
"Your father has sent someone over; I’ll have them bring her here right away."
Chen Luzhi hung up the phone and dared not look at Yu Songyu again as she stumbled out of the room.
Noticing Chen Luzhi's unusual reaction, Yu Songyu guessed that Bai Jie's parents had likely met with misfortune.
But she couldn't leave just yet; she needed to cooperate with the police to track down these beasts.
