“Mr. Bowie, how can this be allowed?” Ni Xingyi's expression immediately darkened. She knew that her previous victory had been a stroke of luck, and if they raced again, she would likely not be so fortunate.
“If you don’t want to, then forget it,” Bowen Delson said nonchalantly.
“How can you lack integrity?” Ni Xingyi trembled with anger.
“The rules are set by me. On my turf, you have to follow my lead. Whether you want to race or not, it’s up to you!” Bowen Delson sneered. Once a person becomes shameless, the distinction between commoner and noble fades away.
Ni Xingyi was at a loss for words, feeling helpless.
“Xing Yi, just race him one more time. If you can beat him once, you can beat him again,” Qin Xusha said encouragingly.
Qin Xusha knew that with Jiang Chen present, no matter how many times they raced, Ni Xingyi would win.
“Fine then,” Ni Xingyi replied reluctantly. She had no choice but to agree to race again.
Seeing Ni Xingyi’s agreement, Bowen Delson instantly perked up; he was confident he wouldn’t lose this time.
The second race began, and as expected, Bowen Delson galloped ahead on his white horse, leaving Ni Xingyi far behind.
However, just as Bowen Delson was about fifty meters from the finish line, his horse suddenly went wild. It leaped into the air and landed on its back with its hooves in the air. Poor Bowen Delson was about to become a cushion for his horse. Fortunately, he reacted quickly and narrowly avoided disaster; otherwise, he would have been severely injured if not dead.
Ni Xingyi was stunned but felt a rush of joy as she quickly pursued him. Within seconds, she crossed the finish line again and claimed victory.
Bowen Delson was left dumbfounded but still refused to give up. He insisted that something was wrong with his horse and demanded another race against Ni Xingyi.
Ni Xingyi felt helpless; there was indeed something wrong with Bowen Delson's horse.
“Brother, this time let that foreigner’s horse run just a bit slower than Sister Ni’s horse. Let’s see what excuse he can come up with then,” Jiang Lu whispered. She knew her older brother had tampered with things earlier.
Jiang Chen smiled and made an “okay” gesture.
Jiang Lu and Qin Xusha stifled their laughter; the secretive sabotage and Bowen Delson's bewildered expression were simply too amusing.
While Jiang Chen remained unnoticed, Bowen Delson went off to select another horse for their third race against Ni Xingyi.
“This time, you won’t be so lucky. You’re bound to lose,” Bowen Delson declared confidently.
Ni Xingyi remained silent; she truly felt she might lose this time since her previous win had been based on luck.
With a signal given, both horses took off again. Bowen Delson charged ahead with great momentum. Ni Xingyi thought he would once again leave her in the dust like before, but soon she realized something seemed off this time.
Ni Xingyi looked ahead carefully but indeed saw no sign of Bowen Delson.
Could it be?
Ni Xingyi turned her head to look back, and Bowen Delson was three meters behind her, anxiously urging his horse to catch up.
Hmm? Is this a dream?
It certainly felt like a dream.
Even if it was a dream, there was no time to think about that; she had to win the race first. Ni Xingyi urged her horse forward, and as she finally approached the finish line, she glanced back again. This time, Bowen Delson's horse seemed fine, but he was still three meters behind her. The grimace on his face told her that he was giving it everything he had, his legs squeezing the horse tightly, yet he still couldn't close the gap. Just a few meters separated them, but it felt impossible for him to overtake her.
