Reiner did not dwell on such thoughts; instead, he was filled with fond memories of his family, who had unconditionally loved him but were now gone.
After a moment, Reiner pulled himself from his reverie and sincerely faced Xu Lie. He placed his hands on Xu Lie's shoulders and then let them drop to the sides.
It seemed to be a grand gesture among mages. When Reiner first met Xu Lie, he had performed a similar ritual, placing his left hand on his right shoulder before letting it fall again. Now, it was merely a matter of resting both hands on the shoulders, signifying that the gesture had doubled in meaning.
Xu Lie pondered over these rituals that he found difficult to perform.
Reiner, however, was deeply impressed: "Xu Lie, you are truly a saint who cares for the entire realm. What you bring to this world is unprecedented light and hope. Only someone like you, who has created such profound truths and achievements, could enter the Truth Gate."
"I am willing to follow you and spread the Meditation Method for the benefit of all."
Xu Lie maintained a gentle smile and nodded slightly in agreement. After so long of persuasion, he had finally brought someone aboard.
Anthony and Charles stepped forward to support Reiner on either side, exclaiming in unison, "Welcome to our group!"
Charles no longer played the role of a dark overlord; he returned to normal conversation: "Anthony and I were also captivated by your teachings and chose to serve alongside you."
"The master wishes to spread the Meditation Method and needs to establish a large school."
Anthony chimed in, "That’s why we thought of using the All-Continent Mage Exchange Conference as our venue. If we can build a school here, it will surely attract many mages and make our name known."
Indeed, this time Xu Lie had chosen not to stir up trouble but instead opted for serious business by establishing a school in the Burning Fire realm.
Forget about fighting and conquering; those were too complex and time-consuming. Not only did one have to contend with others but also with nature itself while managing various governance issues and devising different means of control. Just thinking about it was exhausting.
For mages who loved research, why would Xu Lie bother with conquering? Setting up a school would gather a multitude of mages. By appealing to reason and enticing them with benefits—distributing various Magic Books sent from the Shendai realm—he could have them work for free and produce numerous logistical products that Xu Lie needed.
Just a glance at Reiner revealed everything; a single Thunder Magic Book made him treat it like a treasure, instantly turning him into a fervent believer of the Truth Gate. Wouldn't other wizards be tempted by such precious knowledge as Magic Books and scrolls? Eventually, they would obediently work for Xu Lie.
Once these individuals were occupied, the students would graduate, and a new batch of wizards would step in to take their place. This created a positive cycle, developing smoothly without the need for spirals or linear ascents. How wonderful was that?
Xu Lie felt confident in Anthony and Charles's abilities, especially as they worked to win over Reiner. With a sense of assurance, Xu Lie picked up his tea, ready to take a sip. He was about to experience the flavor of the Starry Tea Tree, having prepared cold water in advance after reviewing the script.
But then Reiner asked, "School? What is a school?"
Xu Lie nearly choked on his tea, almost spitting it out. He had almost forgotten that in this Burning Fire realm, the concept of school was still quite ancient—a master wizard training one or two apprentices without any notion of formal education.
There was no need for Xu Lie to step in again; Anthony and Charles clearly explained to Reiner what a school was.
