Xu Lie readily agreed without any hesitation, causing everyone from the Dove Faction and the Centrists to smile broadly and hold him in even greater esteem. On one side, he was hailed as the guardian of humanity, while on the other, he was celebrated as the guiding light for the future of the planet. There was even a sense that they might establish a church for Alien Life, placing it on a pedestal.
Who doesn’t enjoy flattery? A few compliments are fine, but too much can become tiresome. Especially when their praise became increasingly absurd, nearly elevating Xu Lie to the status of a galaxy lamp or a dominator of star realms—it was simply too awkward to endure.
"Here’s the deal: all the technical data and physical products you need are on the space Fleet. I can contact a ship right now, and it can be delivered," Xu Lie interrupted their excessive flattery. "Let’s set the location at the Great Federation, Sherwood District. I need to make a trip there."
Naturally, the members of the Dove Faction and Centrists had no objections; their smiles were as bright as chrysanthemums. The prospect of receiving everything so quickly was fantastic! The sooner they got their hands on it, the more at ease they would feel. Truly, this was the hallmark of Heng Xing Hai’s alien language—honesty!
After saying this, Xu Lie did not linger and exited the meeting directly. The remaining high-ranking officials from the Great Federation were perceptive enough not to follow him out. Even though they knew that Alien Life had the capability and technology to hack into Online Meetings for surveillance, what could they do? They would still have to admit to being monitored.
If Xu Lie left first and they followed right after, who knew if such actions would offend Alien Life? Thus, they quickly shifted their focus to another topic—how to handle matters in the Great Federation, Sherwood District, and how to respond to international pressure.
They discussed this throughout the day, only daring to exit the meeting as night approached. Once outside, they felt like ants crawling inside their minds; they wanted to continue discussions with others but were worried about being monitored. They could only resort to the oldest method of human communication—summoning their most trusted Confidants to help them send messages.
While those in the Great Federation were busy without end, things had quieted down in the Great Federation, Sherwood District. Anthony had previously found himself surrounded by members of the Serpent Strike. Charles chose to contact the Arms Tycoons to inform them that two small mice from the Great Federation had infiltrated their building and asked how they should handle it.
The Arms Tycoons were surprisingly tolerant, considering they had already been defeated. It was a mindset akin to that of a person nearing death, speaking kindly as if nothing mattered anymore. Given that they were all members of the upper class, it was clear that their non-resistance would allow them to maintain some semblance of dignity in the end.
They would lose all their power but not too much wealth; they could still live comfortably for the rest of their lives. Since everyone was a person of stature, why cling to those beneath them?
At this juncture, there was no need to provoke discomfort among the higher-ups of the Great Federation, so Charles was instructed to entertain the two guests. Indeed, entertain.
The Arms Tycoons viewed Anthony and his companion merely as spies sent by the Great Federation, which explained their leniency. Had they known that Anthony was the mastermind behind the leak of Tactical Nuclear Weapon intelligence, he would likely have met a grim fate instead of being treated with hospitality.
Thus, it was quite strange that Anthony and Charles, once at odds at the pinnacle of the Underworld, found themselves seated at the same table during a banquet, sharing drinks and cigars. This sight left William and the surrounding members of the Serpent Gang dumbfounded. They could hardly fathom such an occurrence; it truly challenged their worldview.
After a hearty meal and an enjoyable evening, the Serpent Gang members escorted Anthony and William to a luxurious hotel for their stay. The Arms Tycoons had instructed Charles that high-ranking officials from the Great Federation would be arriving soon to discuss matters. It seemed that when the time came, they would hand over Anthony and William, allowing everyone to save face.
Once the Serpent Gang members departed, William remained somewhat dazed and confused. Everything had come to an end, yet he had no idea what would happen to Rims. What was he supposed to do next?
He had intended to consult Mr. Anthony but turned around only to find that Anthony had already gone to rest. Shaking his head in weariness, William felt exhaustion wash over him; without even taking a shower, he collapsed into bed and fell asleep.
