As William contemplated the situation, he realized that from a practical standpoint, a midnight ambush warranted secrecy. There was no reason to inform William and his team.
If he were in charge, he would have turned to the Military-Industrial Complex for weapons and returned to the Great Federation. Just as William was about to smash the wall for the third time, a bright light flickered in the sky, catching his attention.
He instinctively looked up and saw the all-too-familiar Alien UFO hovering conspicuously above. For a moment, even the sounds of cannon fire seemed to pause; no one knew why the Alien Affairs had chosen this moment to appear.
As if reminded by the silence of the artillery, the UFO projected Light and Shadow, revealing a colossal humanoid figure of Xu Lie in the night sky: "I am merely here to observe for future research. You need not worry about us; we will not interfere with your human civilization's Civil War."
Despite Xu Lie's assurance of non-interference, both sides seemed to fight even more fiercely, as if spurred on by the presence of the UFO. The sound of cannon fire and the frequency of explosions far exceeded anything before!
William glared at the UFO, cursing under his breath. Non-interference? If it weren't for you Alien Affairs folks, the Great Federation wouldn't be embroiled in internal conflict! Moreover, using his idol's imposing figure only fueled his anger further.
To any fan, desecrating an idol would ignite fury. Losing his composure, William drew his gun and aimed at the UFO in the sky, pulling the trigger without hesitation. The result was predictable; they were far too distant for a handgun's range, and he had no idea where the bullet went.
However, that gunshot triggered a misunderstanding. From countless windows in nearby homes and high-rises, rifles and handguns suddenly emerged, all aimed outward.
Startled back into reality, William quickly sought cover; he had no desire to experience a literal rain of bullets. With so many guns drawn, it would be lucky if even a trace of his body could be found amidst all those bullets.
"What on earth? Are foreigners this intense? One gunshot on the street and suddenly there are hundreds of guns pointed at me! What an eye-opener!"
"This isn't a normal situation; with all this artillery fire, it's only natural for people to react defensively. No matter how chaotic a gunfight gets, you wouldn't expect so many guns to appear."
"Hahaha! William looks so cute hiding away!"
"This is quite a spectacle! Planes, armored vehicles, artillery positions—so many people and guns! This production team's budget must be astronomical!"
The camera panned to capture the front lines of the battlefield. What was the point of following William? At this moment, it should be focused on filming the grand spectacle!
In the sky, Xu Lie casually glanced at a few Danmaku messages before retracting his gaze and contacting Anthony. "What's the situation?"
On the other end of the secure line, Anthony was sitting in the basement of Charles' villa, enjoying a drink and savoring a cigar, quite content with himself. Upon receiving Xu Lie's call, he respectfully set down his cigar and replied, "First, I have already met up with Charles. We are currently hiding in the basement, and it’s relatively safe."
Charles echoed this sentiment, putting aside his high-end cigar that was still emitting wisps of smoke. He respectfully added, "Is there anything you need us to do, First?"
When conversing with Xu Lie, Charles never spoke slowly. After giving the two men a few instructions and informing them of what they needed to do next, Xu Lie ended the communication.
