Anthony had crafted his own Hacker Program, which recorded the meeting with crystal clarity. It was intriguing—was there a plan to dismantle the Investigation Bureau and merge it into the External Intelligence Agency?
It seemed that the earlier plan had gone smoothly, marking a successful study of human nature. Anthony had long since used his hacking skills to locate the addresses of every attendee. He effortlessly bypassed all security protocols to spy on their movements.
From Anthony's computer, he could see a middle-aged man competing for the position of director, who had previously questioned Dr. Thomas about his accountability. This man urgently summoned the Think Tank, those whom he usually paid to provide him with better strategies and advice after meetings, despite their lack of qualification to participate in the discussions.
The situation was clear; those old geezers should have been dealt with long ago! They still fantasized about licking alien boots, hoping for eternal youth! They had even begun to act on the aliens' demands and were already targeting the Investigation Bureau!
Several members of the Think Tank exchanged glances, speechless. What could they possibly say? Their usual wisdom, which allowed them to easily grasp worldly matters, held no meaning in the face of Alien Affairs.
Currently, they only knew that most scientists judged humanity incapable of resisting Alien Affairs due to an insurmountable technological gap. Furthermore, Alien Affairs had a penchant for studying human nature. Beyond that, they had no useful intelligence—what could they possibly contribute?
The head of the Advisory Group inquired about their boss's intentions: "Ahem, Your Excellency, are you planning to comply with Alien Affairs' requests? You must tell us whether you intend to resist or submit; otherwise, how can we help you formulate ideas?"
The middle-aged man was adept at shifting blame and never left any stains on himself. Instinctively, he criticized, "How could that be possible?! Humanity could never submit to Alien Affairs! Your current thoughts are dangerous."
"If I hear similar dangerous viewpoints again, I will regretfully have to dismiss you." After proclaiming humanity's righteousness, the middle-aged man shifted his tone: "I need you to provide me with certain suggestions; I cannot let all the credit be seized by those old fossils."
"You know I'm competing for the position of Foreign Intelligence Agency Director. Dismantling the Investigation Bureau and merging it into the Alien Intelligence Agency would undoubtedly be a significant achievement. I can't let those old geezers who should have been buried long ago take it from me."
The expressions on the faces of the Think Tank members were peculiar, as if they had just eaten something unpleasant.
The leader cursed inwardly, thinking, damn it, you’ve said everything that needed to be said.
Clearly, he was preparing to ally with the aliens, actively complying with their orders to target the Investigation Bureau, yet he insisted on wrapping it all in a facade of grandiloquent nonsense.
After years of working under this boss, they had come to understand his character well enough. It was always them who were deemed dangerous in their thoughts; he alone was pure and noble, the light of humanity.
Cursing aside, for the sake of their salaries and futures, the Think Tank still needed to strategize. Who knew what the world would become? If their boss truly did align with the aliens, at least there would be some security for them in the future.
But what if the alliance failed? They couldn’t think of any better alternatives no matter how hard they tried.
Thus, when it came to the merger of the Investigation Bureau with the Alien Intelligence Agency, the Advisory Group members eagerly spoke up and engaged in active discussion: “Boss, we can secretly reach out to various Directors.”
Mi Dun informed them that the higher-ups were preparing to impose restrictions and that they could not defy these orders or submit to Alien Affairs.
On this basis, they aimed to rally all members of the Investigation Bureau as allies and promised to provide them with certain support in secret.
