In the office of the Metropolitan Investigation Bureau, Director Anthony looked at Ryan as he entered and asked, "What’s the situation?"
Ryan's expression was grim. "After confirmation, the captain of the Second Investigation Team is unreachable; the captain of the Fourth Investigation Team, Pristo, is also uncontactable. Out of the eleven members of the Fourth Investigation Team, only the newcomers William and Rims can be reached. The entire First Investigation Team is unreachable as well, and the entire Second Response Team is down too."
Hearing that so many of his subordinates had gone missing, Anthony maintained a stoic expression, barely managing to keep his composure without throwing things in frustration or cursing. He simply nodded to indicate he understood. "Thank you, Ryan. You can leave now."
Ryan felt a wave of relief wash over him. If it weren't for Charles' orders, he would have wanted to run away himself! But one had to admit that Director Anthony was impressive. Despite so many subordinates abandoning their posts, Anthony remained remarkably calm—truly frightening.
Perhaps this was part of Charles' plan? With so many people from the Investigation Bureau gone, maybe Ryan could rise through the ranks? But would it even matter? Faced with aliens and those mysterious UFOs, what significance would it hold even if he sat in Anthony's position?
Sighing, Ryan hoped that Charles would soon issue new orders. As he left the office with these thoughts in mind, he believed his undercover role as a spy was well concealed. Little did he know that Xu Lie had already seen through the act; both Anthony and Charles were aware of each other's undercover agents.
In the past, in the show "Black and White," the presence of an undercover agent often led to plot twists and revealed crucial mysteries. They didn’t expose Ryan’s identity directly simply because Anthony and Charles were on the same side.
Watching Ryan leave, Anthony idly browsed the internet on his office computer while waiting for communication from higher-ups. It wasn't until half an hour into watching a movie that he finally received a message from above.
Anthony joined a video conference, an urgent meeting hastily organized by the Great Federation's Alien Intelligence Agency. The recording from last night had been quickly uploaded and confirmed, showing no special effects or graphics—just pure reality.
As a result, the Great Federation was particularly concerned about the alien UFO incident, especially since it involved a Tactical Nuclear Weapon. A series of personnel adjustments had taken place, with relevant staff being urgently reassigned to this intelligence agency throughout the night and into the morning. Even the position of Alien Intelligence Agency Director had not been established, nor was there a designated office location. The meeting could only be conducted online.
They were in a rush to pull Anthony into the meeting simply because he was the highest-ranking eyewitness present. Following their instructions, Anthony recounted the events in detail, ultimately concluding: "In summary, I can reasonably suspect that this mysterious third party with the private nuclear weapon likely had prior knowledge of the Alien UFO's existence. This would explain how they were able to precisely detonate the Tactical Nuclear Weapon at Metropolis Port to expose the UFO."
During the video conference, an older military official with sharp eyes fixed his gaze on Anthony and asked, "Are you willing to take responsibility for what you've said?"
Anthony maintained his composure, internally reflecting on the Great Federation's accountability system. The Alien UFO incident had already occurred, yet instead of urgently discussing strategies, they were quick to assign personal responsibility? It was somewhat amusing.
