The courthouse in Ancheng was bustling with an unexpected crowd. Normally, it was a place devoid of visitors, but today it was packed to the brim, teeming with people.
The commotion surprised the staff, many of whom had never seen such a large gathering since they began their careers. Why were there so many people? Everyone, from top to bottom, was focused on this case, so it was only natural for the turnout to be high.
Indeed, in the past, there was only one camera for live streaming the hearings, but now several more were needed. The leadership even contacted the service providers to ensure everything ran smoothly; otherwise, the live stream might have faced interruptions.
Numerous media personnel set up their equipment at the front, while hundreds of students supporting Xu Lie were pushed back to make room. Among them were Lu Youyou, Lin Yuanliang, and Meng Ling.
The onlookers who came to witness the outcome of this explosive case were indifferent; they stood at the back, merely hoping to see some excitement and await a verdict.
Soon after, the Special Investigation Team arrived with Xu Lie in custody. As they stepped out of the vehicle, countless camera flashes erupted like fireworks. The intense strobe lights seemed blinding for both the Special Investigation Team and Xu Lie; Zhang Yutao and Xu Lie barely had time to squint against the brightness.
A dozen well-dressed reporters rushed forward with microphones: "Xu Lie, how do you feel about the support from the four high schools in Ancheng?" "What predictions does the Special Investigation Team have regarding today's hearing?" "Did you really orchestrate the three bombings out of revenge?"
Zhang Yutao remained expressionless as members of the Special Investigation Team formed a protective circle around Xu Lie and escorted him through the throng. Only Xu Lie seemed intrigued by the situation: "The flashes are too bright! I appreciate their support and am glad they recognize the mistakes in the New Marriage Law."
Before he could finish his thought, Zhang Yutao guided him away from the reporters, preventing any further banter.
Lu Youyou struggled to get closer but found herself unable to push through. She felt anxious and wanted to speak with Xu Lie but couldn't find a way. Meng Ling noticed her distress and reminded her, "Don't rush, Youyou. We can just sit in on the hearing. Even if you get closer, the Special Investigation Team won't let you talk."
Over these past seven days, Meng Ling had become friends with Lu Youyou after learning about her feelings for someone else; their relationship had improved significantly since then.
"The Eleventh Session is finally here; it's time for the hearing!" one person remarked excitedly.
"I still want to see more of Xu Lie's story. The previous ninth session felt lacking without him," another added.
"Not at all! I found those earlier sessions quite interesting—especially when Lu Youyou visited three high schools alone; that was truly touching," someone else chimed in.
"I actually think that the sequel to Di Shi Huan, with so many high schools and universities joining forces, is quite a spectacle," Xu Lie remarked as he walked along, glancing at the Danmaku.
Indeed, this was the Eleventh Session. In the previous two episodes, Xu Lie had not appeared, and the focus had shifted to the interactions between the male and female leads and Lu Youyou.
The story primarily revolved around Lu Youyou visiting all the high schools in Ancheng, where classmates shared their thoughts on Xu Lie's character and aspirations, essentially advocating for him.
The first to be visited by Lu Youyou were Lin Yuanliang and Meng Ling. Given their own positions, they were among the first to support Lu Youyou's initiative.
Lin Yuanliang and Meng Ling collaborated to rally a group of classmates who were also secretly in love, organizing a petition within the school.
The implications were significant; if they succeeded in changing the New Marriage Law, it was likely that their petition would be included in history textbooks a hundred years from now.
Thanks to Lin Yuanliang's efforts in gathering signatures from students at his school, the other three high schools were finally persuaded by Lu Youyou to organize their own petitions as well.
