Her resolute words made even the slow-to-react Lin Yuanliang sense something was off. Lu Youyou’s concern for Xu Lie clearly exceeded the bounds of mere friendship.
If he were in her shoes and Lu Youyou had been arrested, would he be so eager to run around seeking help? He wasn’t sure. But if it were Meng Ling in trouble? He would undoubtedly follow Lu Youyou’s example and grasp at any hope available. So what did this mean about Lu Youyou’s feelings for Xu Lie?
"You like Xu Lie?!" Lin Yuanliang exclaimed in shock, unable to believe his conclusion.

"That's right! Your future wife is taken!"
It was a pity; I had thought the screenwriter would arrange for Lin Yuanliang to remain oblivious until the very end of the show. The barrage of comments flooded in like during the New Year celebration, nearly obscuring the screen at the moment Lin Yuanliang discovered the truth.
Meng Ling showed no signs of surprise. After spending so much time together, she had long understood Lin Yuanliang's slow-witted nature. Lu Youyou, however, was quite taken aback. Did she like Xu Lie? Was that true? Or not?
What was the point of thinking about this at such a time? Lu Youyou shook her head vigorously, forcefully suppressing her other emotions, and focused on the matter at hand. "Can I ask you all for a favor? I've heard of a few cases of free love, and I believe Xu Lie is not in the wrong. People's marriages and relationships shouldn't be solely determined by Gene Matching."
Lin Yuanliang and Meng Ling exchanged guilty glances. They shared this very sentiment but dared not voice it, concealing their mutual affection from everyone. From a personal standpoint, Lin Yuanliang and Meng Ling inherently aligned with Xu Lie and Lu Youyou's perspective.
