Zhang Yutao felt the urge to take a deep breath; his blood pressure was nearly maxed out by Xu Lie. How did this young man manage to infuriate him with just a few words?
When Xu Lie exchanged points for firearms at the company, he opted for Ju Jie’s service pistol to avoid any risks. The Special Investigation Team should be able to figure things out with some time. After all, he had stolen it after making a Mini Robot, and they could investigate which gun had gone missing.
Making a bomb was even simpler. With two-stage nitrate and three-stage nitrate, toluene could be converted into dinitrotoluene, and further purification would yield TNT. As for remote detonation, that was straightforward—just modify a commercially available walkie-talkie.
While firearms required a backstory, bombs were much easier to explain. With his acquired Blasting Skills, Xu Lie spoke confidently enough to teach related subjects. Zhang Yutao listened in astonishment; this young man was quite something!
The gun was stolen, the bomb was homemade—what on earth did he want to achieve? Well, understanding the source was enough. Noticing that Xu Lie seemed ready to launch into a lecture, Zhang Yutao interrupted: “What about the Mini Robot you made?”
To be fair, within the entire Special Investigation Team, the most curious aspect after understanding the case was indeed the Mini Robot. Such a small device capable of transporting and setting bombs—no current robotics project had produced such a useful tool.
If they could master this technology, it would lead to significant advancements in related projects, which is why Zhang Yutao was so interested in the Mini Robot.
However, Xu Lie became less enthusiastic when this topic came up: “I don’t know. I set it up to evade human detection before I cut off the surveillance on the first floor.” After disabling the cameras, its movements relied entirely on internal programming for autonomous judgment—he couldn’t track it down.
While both the gun and bomb had clear origins, explaining the Mini Robot from the company was impossible; Xu Lie didn’t understand its inner workings well enough to fabricate a story. This was why he could hand over firearms to the Plainclothes Team’s Xiao Duan but couldn’t part with the Mini Robot.
Who would he be fooling?! Did they really think he was that naive?
Zhang Yutao felt like covering his head; his blood pressure began to rise again. With all this back and forth, his brain’s blood vessels were struggling to cope.
“I’m asking this question very seriously,” he said. “If even an autonomous machine can’t be found by others, how could you—the designer—not locate it?”
Xu Lie returned with an equally serious expression: “I’m answering this question just as seriously.”
If it weren’t for the recording device installed here that needed to be packed away into evidence, Zhang Yutao would have wanted to curse loudly to vent his frustration. Seeing Xu Lie’s earnest demeanor made him realize that further questioning wouldn’t yield any results. He decided to wrap things up and lower his stress levels: “Then let’s move on to the last question. We spoke with witness Lu Youyou regarding Ancheng and Si Zhong, and she claimed you threatened her. Do you acknowledge this?”
If that's the case, then in addition to charges of explosive facilities and endangering public safety, we should also add a charge of intimidation.
Xu Lie replied without hesitation, "I did threaten them; I plead guilty."
Zhang Yutao, feeling too lazy to stay any longer, worried that if he lingered, his blood pressure might shoot up and burst through his temples. He stood up and left.
Xu Lie was pleased with this outcome and returned home to lie down and browse Danmaku to pass the time.
Xu Lie unreservedly admitted to threatening Lu Youyou; it was simply too enticing! This was such an easy topic to discuss!
It’s good, but if Lu Youyou happens to see this when the charges are announced in court, she might feel particularly guilty, right?
What’s there to worry about? Isn’t this just Xu Lie reminding Lu Youyou of his original words? Why should Lu Youyou feel guilty?
