Xu Lie had little time to hesitate. He took two steps to the left and found a Nurse Sister. "Excuse me, could you help me?"
The nurse, surprised by the sudden request, replied without impatience, "What’s the matter?"
Xu Lie tried to sound timid. "My face hurts whenever the wind blows. The doctor said it’s some kind of bacterial infection, but I can’t remember the details. I just can’t be exposed to the wind at all, but I need to go to the Inpatient Building, and the outpatient department is full of air conditioning."
"Could you please use a transport bed to take me over? It would be best if I could cover my face with a blanket."
The nurse blinked a few times. After several years of work, this was the first time she had encountered such an unusual request. The man in front of her was quite tall but seemed timid; she had heard of cases where patients couldn’t be exposed to the wind, but none were as fearful as this one.
"If you can walk, why do you need to lie down? I can just push you to the Inpatient Building," she thought. If he accidentally got his face exposed to the wind on the way, would she be partially responsible?
Despite her good nature, facing such a troublesome request made her want to politely decline. "Sir, that really isn’t appropriate—"
Xu Lie couldn’t let her refuse. Information from Danmaku indicated that the Plainclothes Team was getting closer, and he didn’t have time to find someone else.
So instead of persuading her further, he pulled out two bills from his pocket—each one was the largest denomination in Script World. "Please, help me."
"Sir, this really isn’t appropriate—"
"Just help me." Xu Lie pulled out four more bills. It wasn’t that he was stingy with money in Script World; he had exchanged a lot and couldn’t possibly spend it all. However, due to habits from his past life, he rarely carried cash and had brought some this time just in case.
"Alright, follow me," the nurse said.
The power of cash was indeed convenient; she no longer hesitated and happily led Xu Lie to a transport bed, gently covering him with a blanket.
She even cheerfully asked, "Sir, do you need some space for air?"
"No need," Xu Lie replied muffled under the blanket. "It’s just a short distance; it’s not far to the Inpatient Building."
That made sense; the nurse didn’t say anything more and began pushing him along while actively informing passersby ahead, "Thank you, please make way."
Just then, they brushed past a member of the Plainclothes Team who was scanning the area for suspicious individuals. The Plainclothes Team didn’t glance in Xu Lie’s direction at all; upon hearing the nurse’s request, they even stepped aside to clear the path for him.
This sight amused onlookers greatly.
It was over; I couldn't imagine how the Special Investigation Team would explain this after reviewing the surveillance footage. This guy from the Plainclothes Team who brushed past me would have a lot to answer for.
Xu Lie was indeed wealthy. He had previously stayed in a luxurious hotel, and now he was spending money to relocate. No matter what society you were in, money always played a significant role.
Oh dear, Nurse Sister was still too young. If only she could delay things a bit longer, who knows how much more Xu Lie might reveal.
Wrapped in his blanket, Xu Lie could also browse through the Danmaku. Scrolling through several comments, he couldn't help but feel a mix of amusement and despair. The audience that had once praised him now seemed to be hoping for his downfall.
As the nurse pushed Xu Lie towards the elevator, the Special Investigation Team's headquarters received responses from the lower floor's Plainclothes Team, confirming that no suspicious individuals had been found. They could only redirect their attention back to the surveillance footage: what had happened?
Members of the Monitoring Team, eager to redeem themselves, stared intently at the screen, not daring to blink as they focused on the footage outside the restroom on that floor.
During the first viewing, they saw no one in a white coat entering or exiting. They had to rewind and watch again, and this time they finally spotted a man with a scarf wrapped around his head, dressed in a black shirt, exiting the restroom.
Team Leader, we found him! Without needing to scrutinize further, the monitoring team members confirmed that with such shoddy disguise, this person was undoubtedly Xu Lie.
