All around, the banners of Jing Kingdom fluttered in the wind, and the silhouettes of countless enemy soldiers loomed large. Despite this, the Brave Soldiers of Wu Kingdom remained undaunted, rising to resist and engaging in a heart-stopping battle for survival. The sounds of battle cries and clashing weapons echoed through the air, while blood stained the vast grassland beneath their feet.
Lin Feng was anxious; he understood that the situation was dire and that they needed to break through quickly to have any chance of survival. He shouted once more, directing everyone to channel their strength toward Tongguan. However, the enemy's forces were overwhelmingly strong, and their first attempt to break through ended in failure. The second charge also failed to breach the enemy's defenses.
As he watched his soldiers fall one by one, their numbers dwindling rapidly, the situation reached a critical point. Suddenly, a dark shadow streaked across the sky, and a cold arrow shot toward Lin Feng like lightning. With a sharp whoosh, the arrow struck true, piercing Lin Feng's chest. He let out a muffled groan before collapsing to the ground.
The unexpected turn of events stunned everyone present; Mardu and Yang Hu's faces turned pale with shock. They hurried to Lin Feng's side, bending down to assess his injury. The arrow was embedded deep in his chest, blood gushing from the wound. What was even more concerning was that no one knew if the arrowhead had been coated with deadly poison.
After sustaining such a severe injury, Lin Feng's consciousness began to fade until he fell into a deep unconsciousness. At that moment, Lu Yong was not present, which further unsettled the already tense morale of the troops. The soldiers looked at one another in confusion, unsure of what to do next.
Just then, Mardu stepped forward and shouted, "Everyone stay calm! If you all follow my orders, we will prepare to launch an attack against the enemy!" Yang Hu quickly helped Lin Feng onto a warhorse and then turned to Mardu, saying, "General, please take General Lin Feng and retreat first. Let your humble general hold off the enemy here."
However, they had fewer than two thousand soldiers left; breaking through the encirclement would be incredibly difficult and fraught with danger. But time was of the essence; they could not afford to hesitate for even a moment.
After a brief moment of contemplation, Mardu decisively nodded and pointed in a direction. "We will break through in that direction! Once we breach their lines, we head straight for Tongguan." With that, he raised his hand and shouted loudly, "Brothers, charge!"
With a furious roar, the crowd brandished their weapons and charged recklessly toward their designated target. In an instant, the air was filled with the sounds of battle cries, as both sides engaged in a fierce and relentless struggle for survival.
After two brutal attempts, the Wu Kingdom Army finally managed to tear open a breach during their third charge, breaking through the encirclement. The escaping troops dared not pause for even a moment; they raced forward at full speed toward Tongguan.
On the other side, the general of Jing Kingdom, witnessing the Wu Kingdom Army beginning to flee, was consumed with rage and immediately ordered his troops to pursue with all their might, shouting, "Catch up to them! We cannot let them escape!"
Yang Hu led a mere few hundred men in a desperate resistance. He needed to buy as much time as possible for Mardu and the others to break free and bring Lin Feng back to Tongguan.
In the end, the Jing Kingdom army surrounded Yang Hu and his few hundred soldiers completely, leaving no survivors; they all perished in battle.
