Upon hearing this, the Uli Tribe Leader felt a stir in his heart but did not show too much emotion on his face. He simply responded calmly, "This matter is significant; allow me to consider it carefully first. I will give you an answer tomorrow."
With that, he nodded slightly in acknowledgment.
Seeing this, Mardu and Lu An knew better than to press further. After exchanging glances, they stood up to take their leave from the Uli Tribe Leader. They understood that this matter could not be rushed and could only wait patiently for the Uli Tribe Leader's final decision.
The next morning, the Uli Tribe Leader rose early and sat alone in his tent deep in thought. After a night of contemplation, he still harbored some doubts: Could the Wu Kingdom truly treat us outsiders well? Or would it merely be a temporary expedient?
Just then, footsteps approached from outside; it was Mardu and Lu An coming to inquire about the outcome. Upon seeing them, the Uli Tribe Leader paused for a moment before slowly asking, "I would like to know if our Wu Li Tribe chooses to submit to the Wu Kingdom, will the Wu Kingdom truly treat us as kindly as its own subjects?"
Mardu stepped forward earnestly and replied, "Leader, please rest assured! As long as your tribe sincerely joins our nation, you will naturally be considered subjects of the Wu Kingdom. The court will treat you with fairness and will never show any favoritism or discrimination."
Hearing these words, the Uli Tribe Leader's expression softened slightly, but his eyes still revealed a hint of hesitation.
Seeing this, Lu An quickly added, "Moreover, our Wu Kingdom has always valued national unity and treats all tribes equally, promoting mutual development. I believe that with your tribe's strength and wisdom, Wu Kingdom will surely gain better opportunities for development and lead a stable and prosperous life."
After hearing this, the Uli Tribe Leader finally nodded in agreement, saying, "In that case, I will lead the Wu Li Tribe to pledge allegiance to Wu Kingdom."
With the successful persuasion of the Wu Li Tribe, Lu An and Mardu joyfully made their way to Lin Feng's location, eager to share the good news. Before long, they arrived at Lin Feng's tent.
Upon entering the tent, they saw Lin Feng sitting at a table, reading a book. When he noticed their arrival, he set aside what he was holding and smiled at them.
Lu An eagerly stepped forward and bowed, saying, "General, the Wu Li Tribe has pledged allegiance to our Wu Kingdom!"
Lin Feng's eyes lit up with surprise at these words. He immediately stood up and patted Lu An on the shoulder, praising him, "Well done! It seems this decision was indeed correct."
He then turned to Mardu and said earnestly, "Now it will be up to you both to continue working hard with the other tribes."
Mardu and Lu An responded in unison, "Rest assured, General. We will not fail our mission!"
In the following days, Mardu and Lu An tirelessly traveled between various tribes. They reasoned with them and appealed to their emotions, detailing the policies of Wu Kingdom and the numerous benefits of allegiance.
Their efforts bore fruit; after persistent work, more than a dozen additional tribes expressed their willingness to join Wu Kingdom.
