Half a month ago, after a long and arduous journey, Liang Yan finally stepped onto the territory of the Liang Kingdom under the strict escort of the Garrison. Throughout the journey, he was anxious and eager to return home, wishing he could fly straight back to the capital of the Liang Kingdom.
As soon as he entered the borders of the Liang Kingdom, Liang Yan wasted no time and hurried on his way without daring to pause. He understood that time was of the essence and that his mission was crucial; he had to deliver important intelligence back to the capital as quickly as possible. Thus, he traveled day and night, finally arriving at the heart of the Liang Kingdom, Liangdu.
However, at that moment, Liang Yan did not choose to go home first. He knew that this mission was related to the safety and future of the nation, leaving no room for delay. Therefore, he headed straight for the imperial palace in Liangdu without hesitation.
As night fell and the lights began to glow, the entire Liangdu fell into a serene silence. Yet at this moment, the chambers of the Liang Emperor were brightly lit. A young eunuch hurriedly ran into the chambers, looking flustered as he reported to the resting Liang Emperor: "Your Majesty, Prince Liang Yan requests an audience!"
The Liang Emperor's heart jolted, instantly shaking off his drowsiness. He was well aware that over half a month ago, he had dispatched Liang Yan to Wu Kingdom to seek an alliance between their two nations. If Liang Yan arrived at such a late hour, it must be due to urgent matters that required immediate reporting.
"Quickly let him in!" The Liang Emperor hastily rose, instructing the young eunuch while swiftly changing into his formal Dragon Robe. He then sat upright in his chair, waiting for Liang Yan's arrival.
Before long, Liang Yan entered the chambers looking weary from travel. Upon seeing the Liang Emperor, he immediately knelt and respectfully said, "I pay my respects to Father!"
The Liang Emperor raised his hand slightly, signaling Liang Yan to rise and speak. Eagerly, he asked, "My son, how goes our alliance with Wu Kingdom?"
Standing tall, Liang Yan revealed a hint of a relieved smile as he replied, "Your Majesty, I am glad to report that Wu Kingdom has agreed to ally with our nation."
Hearing this good news, the tension in the Liang Emperor's heart finally eased a bit. He let out a long sigh of relief and nodded in satisfaction, affirming Liang Yan's performance.
Soon after, father and son engaged in an in-depth discussion about the details of the alliance and subsequent matters. After a long while, when Liang Yan felt he had said everything necessary, he once again bowed respectfully to take his leave.
The Liang Emperor smiled and waved his hand, watching as Liang Yan departed from his sight.
At this point, the significant matter concerning the fate of the two nations had been successfully concluded, and Liang Yan's heart, which had been in suspense for many days, could finally find peace.
As dawn broke, with the sun yet to fully rise, the entire capital was shrouded in a thin layer of morning mist. The Liang Emperor had arrived at the court early, seated solemnly on the Dragon Throne, his expression grave and serious.
Once all the ministers had gathered, the Liang Emperor cleared his throat and spoke: "Esteemed my loyal ministers, I trust you have heard of my decision to send a prince as an envoy to Wu Kingdom half a month ago. Yesterday, the prince returned and brought back exhilarating news: our alliance with Wu Kingdom has been achieved!"
As soon as these words were spoken, it was as if a stone had stirred up a thousand waves; the previously quiet court erupted into a flurry of chatter. The ministers whispered among themselves, discussing this unexpected announcement. Some wore expressions of joy, believing that this alliance was a boon for the nation; while others furrowed their brows, seemingly harboring doubts about the details involved.
Seeing this commotion, the Liang Emperor raised his hand slightly to signal for silence and continued, "Now, let us have the prince elaborate on the conditions proposed by Wu Kingdom."
With the Emperor's words hanging in the air, Liang Yan slowly stepped forward from the crowd.
