The wild boar they caught wasn't particularly large, weighing perhaps around a hundred pounds. If it had been any bigger, it would have been difficult for just the few of them to move it. Even though they had successfully captured the boar, the old man was reluctant to part with the firewood they had painstakingly gathered, determined to take it all with them. 0

After some discussion, they decided to let the young girl take as much firewood as she could manage. After all, the price they could get for a wild boar far exceeded that of a bundle of firewood. Thus, Lin Feng set off on the journey home with the grandfather and granddaughter. 0

Along the way, they chatted and laughed, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The village was quite small, consisting of only about twenty households. As they walked along the road leading into the village, Lin Feng struck up a conversation with the old man and learned that his name was Old Zhang, while the lively little girl was called Xiao Fang, who was only seven years old. 0

The two of them relied on each other for support; Xiao Fang's parents had tragically died at the hands of bandits, leaving just the two of them to struggle through life. Unfortunately, this tragic fate was not unique to Old Zhang's family. In fact, this village and several others nearby often suffered from rampant bandit raids. Many families had been devastated, their homes reduced to ruins. 0

The strong young men could not endure such torment and chose to flee, leaving behind only women, children, and the elderly who continued to endure their hardships in silence. 0

Finally arriving at Old Zhang's home, Lin Feng began to carefully observe the house. It consisted of just one main room and a side room; compared to truly destitute families living in bare walls, they were perhaps slightly better off. As they entered through the door, a few villagers passed by and came over to greet them. 0

When these villagers saw Old Zhang and a stranger carrying a large wild boar together, their faces were filled with envy. "Old Zhang, where did you catch such a big wild boar?" one asked. 0

"Oh, it's not me; it's this young man," Old Zhang replied. 0

Lin Feng helped carry the boar into the yard and placed the firewood in a corner. Old Zhang then began preparing the boar for dinner that night while planning to sell most of it in town. 0

The boar was quickly processed, and Old Zhang intended to take it to town soon so he could arrange dinner earlier. Before long, word spread among the villagers about what had happened at Old Zhang's house, and many came over to visit and see for themselves. 0

Old Zhang found two people to help him go to the town. Only Lin Feng and Xiao Fang stayed behind, while Old Zhang chatted with the villagers at home. 0

That afternoon, Lin Feng talked a lot with everyone, carefully avoiding any discussion about his own issues. He couldn't reveal his identity; these were just ordinary folks, and there was no need to tell them. 0

As the sun began to set, around four o'clock in the afternoon, Old Zhang returned. Seeing their happy faces, it seemed that things had gone well. Indeed, the final sales results were surprisingly good, earning them over ten taels of silver. 0

Old Zhang was overjoyed and planned to give most of the money to Lin Feng, keeping only a small portion for himself. However, Lin Feng politely declined this offer without hesitation. 0

As night fell and stars twinkled in the sky, Old Zhang and Xiao Fang entered the kitchen together to prepare dinner with great care. Meanwhile, Lin Feng sat comfortably in the spacious courtyard, enjoying the gentle breeze that brought a refreshing coolness to his face. 0

Watching Old Zhang busying himself, Lin Feng couldn't help but sigh at how kind the villagers were. Before long, a rich aroma wafted from the kitchen, quickly spreading throughout the courtyard. 0

Lin Feng inhaled the enticing scent, and his stomach couldn't help but rumble in response. 0
