"These are ancient runes," Xing Yu explained, "each one represents a different meaning. For example, this one..." She pointed at a glowing symbol, "represents 'door' or 'entrance.'"
Lin Yu carefully observed the symbol, suddenly feeling the mark on his wrist begin to heat up. Instinctively, he reached out to touch the symbol, and an astonishing event occurred—the symbol suddenly enlarged, projecting an ancient text.
"Oh my gosh!" Xing Yu exclaimed, "You activated the hidden information!"
Old Mo leaned in closer to read the text: "'Only the Chosen One can open the path to Truth's Gate'... It seems that the Star Relic is indeed related to your mark."
Lin Yu felt his heart race: "Does that mean I can find a way home?"
Xing Yu and Old Mo exchanged a glance: "Perhaps it means more than that. This text mentions 'truth,' which may hint at secrets regarding the nature of the Phantom Realm."
Just then, the Phantom Spirit Fox jumped onto the workbench, pointing at a location on the map with its paw. Lin Yu looked closely and noticed a tiny symbol that had been overlooked.
"What is this?" Lin Yu asked.
Xing Yu leaned in for a better look, her expression suddenly turning serious: "This is... Time Rune. It represents 'cycle' or 'period.'"
Old Mo frowned: "Cycle? Are you suggesting..."
"The Great Cataclysm could be a periodic event," Xing Yu continued, "and the Star Relic might be key to stopping it."
A chill ran down Lin Yu's spine: "Are you saying that the Phantom Realm could face a catastrophic disaster?"
Xing Yu nodded: "According to some confidential documents within the council, there have indeed been several Great Cataclysms in Phantom Realm's history. Each time occurred shortly after the appearance of the Chosen One..."
Her words were interrupted by a piercing alarm. Old Mo immediately rushed to a rune device on the wall: "Someone has triggered the outer barrier!"
Xing Yu quickly operated the runes on the workbench: "It's members of the council, and... trackers from the Shadow Council! How did they find this place?"
Lin Yu suddenly recalled something: "During our time in the council hall, I noticed some council members had strange expressions. They might have left a Tracking Mark on me!"
Old Mo immediately grabbed Lin Yu's wrist for a closer inspection: "There is indeed a hidden Tracking Rune. Xing Yu, can you remove it?"
Xing Yu shook her head: "It's too late; they have already locked onto our location. We need to move immediately!"
At that moment, the Phantom Spirit Fox jumped onto Lin Yu's shoulder and let out a clear chirp. Lin Yu felt a warm energy flow into him, and the Tracking Rune on his wrist suddenly vanished.
"Well done!" Old Mo praised, "Now we need to leave quickly. Xing Yu, do you have an alternate exit?"
Xing Yu swiftly operated the rune device: "Yes, but it will take time to activate the Teleportation Array. Lin Yu, keep studying the map and see if you can find more clues!"
Lin Yu nodded and refocused on the Holographic Map. As he concentrated, more symbols began to glow, projecting new information. Suddenly, he noticed a special symbol at the edge of the map that looked strikingly similar to the mark on his wrist.
"Look here!" Lin Yu pointed at that symbol, "This seems like a Coordinate!"
Xing Yu leaned in for a closer look, her eyes suddenly brightening. "That's right! This is the precise Coordinate of the Star Relic!" She quickly noted down the Coordinate and began to operate the Teleportation Array.
At that moment, a loud banging echoed from the door of the safe house.
"They're coming!" Old Mo shouted. "Xing Yu, hurry!"
"Just give me ten more seconds!" Xing Yu's fingers moved rapidly over the runic device.
The banging grew louder, and cracks began to form on the runes etched into the door.
"Done!" Xing Yu finally exclaimed. "Quick, stand on the Teleportation Array!"
The three of them and the fox immediately positioned themselves at the center of the Teleportation Array. Just as the door burst open, a brilliant light enveloped them.
When the light faded, they found themselves standing in an unfamiliar wilderness. The night sky was dotted with stars, and distant mountains loomed on the horizon.
"Where are we?" Lin Yu asked.
Xing Yu glanced around. "We've been teleported to the wilderness outside Starshine City. We're still a distance away from the Star Relic's Coordinate, but at least we're safe for now."
Old Mo kept a vigilant watch over their surroundings. "We can't let our guard down. The Council and the Shadow Council won't give up easily."
Lin Yu nodded but suddenly felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. He leaned against a nearby rock as the mark on his wrist began to glow intensely.
"Lin Yu?" Xing Yu asked with concern.
"I'm fine," Lin Yu shook his head. "It's just... I feel something." He closed his eyes, tuning into the information emanating from the mark.
Suddenly, a vivid image appeared in his mind: an ancient stone door covered in intricate runes. In the center of that door was a mark identical to the one on his wrist.
"I see it!" Lin Yu opened his eyes wide. "The entrance to the Star Relic! I know how to find it now!"
Xing Yu and Old Mo stared at him in surprise, while the Phantom Spirit Fox bounced excitedly, as if celebrating this discovery.
"It seems," Old Mo said with a smile, "our Chosen One is finally beginning to show true potential."
Xing Yu nodded but maintained a serious expression. "But we need to be cautious. All factions are searching for the Star Relic; we must get there before they do."
Lin Yu took a deep breath, feeling the energy waves carried by the night breeze. He knew that a greater adventure awaited him. This time, he would not be a passive participant but an active explorer.
Under the cover of night, Lin Yu and his companions traversed through the wilderness. Xing Yu led the way, her Rune Disk emitting a faint glow to guide them. Old Mo brought up the rear, keeping a watchful eye on their surroundings. The Phantom Spirit Fox lay on Lin Yu's shoulder, occasionally letting out soft chirps as if trying to alert him to something.
"According to the Coordinate, we still need to travel for about two days," Xing Yu whispered. "But this wilderness isn't safe. We must be wary of Phantom Domain Creatures attacking us."
As if to validate her words, a deep roar echoed from afar. Lin Yu felt a chill run down his spine; that sound was filled with primal ferocity and intent to kill.
"It’s the Night Stalker," Old Mo said. "We should find a place to camp and wait until dawn to move on."
They found a secluded cave, and Xing Yu set up several protective runes at the entrance. Lin Yu sat inside the cave, studying the map by the faint light. He noticed that as he concentrated, the symbols on the map began to glow in different hues.
"Are you learning runes?" Xing Yu remarked, noticing his actions.
