On the day of the Annual Meeting of the Zong Group, Tong Le did not follow Zong Zeyu but instead walked behind Wen Cuizhi, greeting many distinguished guests with special statuses. Wherever Wen Cuizhi went, she kept Tong Le by her side, even choosing the elegant gown Tong Le wore today.
The gown was simple yet elegant, perfectly suited to Tong Le's graceful demeanor. Wen Cuizhi intentionally brought Tong Le along, introducing her to everyone as her second daughter-in-law, mentioning that their wedding was approaching and inviting everyone to attend.
The people Wen Cuizhi introduced Tong Le to were all significant figures, either from the business world or the political arena. Today, many mysterious big shots who were usually only heard of but rarely seen were present at the Zong Group's Annual Meeting.
As Tong Le linked her arm with Wen Cuizhi's, she paid extra attention to her words and actions. "Auntie, please don't drink too much later; you've already had two glasses. I'll handle the toasts," she whispered.
Wen Cuizhi was in a rare good mood. "It's fine; this drink is low in alcohol. They are all my old friends whom I haven't seen in a long time."
Wen Cuizhi held Tong Le's hand and continued, "In the future, you'll need to take care of these relationship-building matters. Although Wen is also a daughter-in-law now, her temperament and character aren't quite suited for this. You are steady and more reserved in your speech and actions. I will gradually entrust you with many things."
Tong Le nodded earnestly. "I will learn well."
Wen Cuizhi glanced over at Wen and Zong Jin with a look of satisfaction. "Look at them; they seem quite compatible. Zong Jin's reserved personality needs a strong wife to manage him! Wen is spirited and straightforward; she should handle difficult matters in business with ease."
Turning back to Tong Le, Wen Cuizhi added, "And you, don’t let Zeyu lead you astray. You two have different temperaments; I can feel more at ease that way."
"Don't worry," Tong Le replied.
At that moment, Hou Yi and Vance entered through the hall's entrance. Their attire was quite formal; especially Hou Yi, who wore a dark suit and polished shoes that shone brightly. If one didn't know better, they might mistake him for a good person.
Hou Yi approached Wen Cuizhi with Vance by his side. Upon seeing Hou Yi, Wen Cuizhi beamed with joy. "You little rascal! You're here!"
Hou Yi responded politely, "Auntie, how could I miss such an important occasion? Have you missed me these past few days?"
Wen Cuizhi laughed heartily. "You little smooth talker!"
She left Tong Le behind and said, "Tong Le, chat with the young people; I'm going to find my old friends."
After Wen Cuizhi walked away, Hou Yi leaned closer to Tong Le with a mischievous grin. "Everyone is talking about your marriage with Zong Zeyu now. When's the wedding? I'm going to crash it!"
Tong Le awkwardly twitched her lips. "Why didn't you say that to Auntie just now? Are you out of your mind?"
Hou Yi shrugged. "I'm not stupid."
He surveyed the crowd and his gaze landed on Wen again. A conflicted expression crossed his face as he struggled to remember her identity.
"Don't look anymore; you have no chance. That's Zong Jin's future wife. Stop leering at beautiful women. A fickle guy like you won't attract any decent girl," Tong Le warned.
Hou Yi scoffed, "Am I really that cheap? Just looking at a woman makes me fall for her? I just think that girl named Wen looks familiar. I feel like I've seen her somewhere before, but I just can't remember where."
