Lan Qingqing wanted to slap Tong Le, the kind of slap that would leave a mark! But she didn’t dare; this was Zong Shi Yan Tuan, the territory of Zong Zeyu. If Zong Zeyu and Tong Le were close, even if she had the courage of a lion, she wouldn’t risk it.
However, she now saw clearly that the person standing before her was the real Tong Le. The previous version of Tong Le, who pretended to be a weak little rabbit, was merely an act put on for her benefit!
Lan Qingqing realized she had underestimated Tong Le, but when had Tong Le started plotting against her in secret? She truly had no idea.
Tong Le tried to leave, but Lan Qingqing grabbed her by the arm, refusing to let her go.
Tong Le pushed Lan Qingqing away, her eyes cold and calm. “What else do you want to say?”
Lan Qingqing’s eyes were filled with resentment. “When did you start scheming against me?”
Tong Le countered, “And when did you start scheming against me?”
Lan Qingqing instinctively frowned.
Tong Le continued, “I handed Ke Wenjie over to you. Isn’t that what you’ve always dreamed of? Shouldn’t you be thanking me?”
Lan Qingqing found it unbelievable. “You know very well that Ke Wenjie is not a good person! Yet you still want to give him to me? You even deceived me into thinking how wonderful he is! How rich he is! You clearly want to drag me down with you!”
Tong Le laughed heartily and took two steps closer to Lan Qingqing. “Aren’t you the one who has been throwing yourself at Ke Wenjie? For these seven years, you’ve been secretly trying to seduce him, playing the role of the third party between me and Ke Wenjie. You love stealing things from my hands; how could I not indulge you? After all, you’re my best friend!”
Tong Le reminded her, “Aren’t you in love with Ke Wenjie? You even went so far as to fabricate a false identity for Mo Kai Liang just for him. You teamed up with Mo Kai Liang to deceive me out of that piece of land under my name. Lan Qingqing, I don’t know whether to call you foolish or a pure-hearted warrior in love.”
Lan Qingqing felt like she was going insane. “It was Ke Wenjie who forced me! Many things were beyond my control! He threatened my life!”
Tong Le scoffed. “So according to your logic, he forced you into bed with him? He raped you? He pressured you into teaming up with Mo Kai Liang to deceive me out of my property? For seven years he’s forced you to be the third party between us? Then you should report him! Or should I help you call the police?”
With that, Tong Le pulled out her phone, ready to call for help.
Lan Qingqing pressed down on Tong Le’s wrist anxiously. “When did you become like this? Tong Le, I feel like I don’t even know you anymore.”
Tong Le replied, “If I don’t change now, wouldn’t I be left with nothing after being devoured by all of you?”
Tong Le couldn’t help but laugh. “Look at yourself; you seem like a smart person, yet your actions are childish and foolish. You brought me soup from a roadside stall and even dipped used tissues in it! Now I want to ask you, what does that soup mixed with strangers’ snot taste like?”
Tong Le looked at Lan Qingqing with amusement as Lan Qingqing nearly retched at the thought. She was surprised that Tong Le knew everything.
As Tong Le turned to leave, she suddenly remembered something. “Oh right, I’ve already hired a lawyer to sue you. During my marriage with Ke Wenjie, all the houses and cars he bought for you using marital property must be returned in full. I know you've always been cash-strapped, but it’s fine; consider any small amount that can’t be recovered as my charity to you. After all these years of being used by Ke Wenjie without any intimacy, it must have been tough on you.”
Tong Le suddenly felt grateful. “Thank you for monopolizing Ke Wenjie’s body all these years. I truly enjoy this sexless marriage without being tainted by a scumbag. My dear sister and best friend, you've really suffered for me.”
With that said, Tong Le turned and walked away, her victorious silhouette casting Lan Qingqing into the shadows of defeat.
Lan Qingqing was on the verge of madness; she wanted to smash things and scream in frustration. But this was the company—if she caused a scene at this moment, she would surely become the target of everyone’s scorn.
Lan Qingqing returned to the Office Lobby, where the Employees were whispering among themselves, their focus entirely on her. She sat at her workstation, trembling with a feeling of despair, as if all her schemes had backfired and the consequences had landed squarely on her shoulders. It was unbearable, painfully so.
At that moment, two delivery men walked into the lobby, carrying a large bouquet of black roses. The striking sight of the black roses drew the attention of all the female employees. Just as everyone was curious about who had sent such an unusual gift, Wu Youyou entered the lobby, talking on her phone.
Wu Youyou looked impatient as she spoke into the receiver, "I'm in the lobby. Where are you?" As she finished her call, her gaze fell upon the enormous bouquet of black roses in front of her. This was the first time anyone had sent her black roses; she had never even received red roses before.
The massive cluster of black roses was too large for her to hold with both hands, but she found herself drawn to their color. She was a unique individual who appreciated black and this special gift. The delivery man handed Wu Youyou a slip and said, "Please sign here. The sender is Mr. Hou, and this is his card for you."
Wu Youyou signed her name and took the card, which was black with gold lettering. Opening it revealed beautifully written words: "Mysterious black, just like you." — Hou Yi.
Her heart skipped a beat. It wasn't that she was smitten by anyone; it was just that such a grand gesture was a first for her. She gasped as she gazed at the stunning bouquet of black roses. They were beautiful—so beautiful—that despite their dark hue, they exuded a unique mystery and elegance that felt personal to her. It was as if the sender truly understood what lay in her heart.
Wu Youyou stood there, momentarily lost in thought.
Meanwhile, Lan Qingqing at her workstation stared in disbelief. Although she felt a twinge of jealousy, she didn't particularly like black; in fact, if someone sent her black roses, she would assume they were wishing her ill! Yet here was Wu Youyou seemingly enchanted by this grand bouquet.
Lan Qingqing couldn't help but marvel at how skilled Hou Yi was at winning over women; he had only met Wu Youyou a few times yet seemed to have grasped her preferences perfectly.
She quickly typed a message to Hou Yi: "What were you thinking sending Wu Youyou black roses?"
Hou Yi replied: "No woman can escape my grasp."
Lan Qingqing playfully responded: "Then guess what I want right now?"
Hou Yi couldn't be bothered to reply.
Feeling disappointed, Lan Qingqing continued: "Can you do me another favor? Tong Le has sued me and wants to take my house and car. I've already sold the house, but I'm worried she'll demand money from me."
Hou Yi replied: "First, get Tong Le to divorce Ke Wenjie."
Just then, Wu Youyou's voice rang out in the lobby.
Lan Qingqing looked up to see Wu Youyou kicking over the expensive bouquet of black roses and stomping on it with force.
