Li Tian Ci felt a sense of wonder about the world around him. It wasn't just that he could sense the things in the universe; he also felt a connection to them. His perception of the world was filled with curiosity, as he had never seen or heard many things, and he did not yet understand concepts like good and evil, beauty and ugliness.
Li Yunqing and Sera did not teach him these things; they simply accompanied him in silence. After all, Li Tian Ci was only about a year and a half old, even though he appeared to be nearly ten. Some experiences, however, could only be understood through personal encounters.
Li Tian Ci did not dislike skeletons, even if their appearance was beyond his comprehension. He looked around and noticed that other skeletons had gathered nearby. A few of them, dressed in robes and wielding staffs, summoned more bare-boned skeletons, causing a swarm of them to fill the forest.
"Go ahead and eat, Simba. I'll wander around the forest for a bit," he said. "I'll wait for you right here."
His state would persist even if Li Tian Ci left; it wouldn’t disappear just because he stepped away. So, he ventured deeper into the woods.
The treetops here were lush and thick, blocking out the sunlight from above. However, it wasn't too dark; many Ghost Fires floated in the air. These were not Spirit Monsters but rather products of the special environment. If players came here, those who liked Ghost Fire could collect it in unique ways to use as decoration at home.
Ghost Fire was abundant; once collected, it would reignite anew. The flames were blue, casting a blue light that added to the dim atmosphere, creating an eerily haunting ambiance. Timid players might hesitate to level up in such a place.
Yet Li Tian Ci felt no fear; he did not even know what fear was. Instead, he observed his surroundings with curiosity. The eerie environment reminded him of Wuwang Slope in Liyue, though that place had a deeper, more oppressive feeling to it.
There is a feeling of being watched by many, and under such pressure, one's mind can become unhinged. Many people from Liyue accidentally find themselves here at night, losing their way and ultimately meeting their demise at Wuwang Slope. However, the Hall Master of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, Hu Tao, often captures the restless spirits causing trouble at Wuwang Slope and guides the lost souls back home. This is not just Hu Tao's duty; it is a responsibility shared by every generation of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.
When Li Tian Ci visited, he was carried there by his mother, Sera. At that time, Hu Tao mistakenly thought they had lost their way and came over to guide them. It turned out they were not lost; they had simply come to take a look. However, at that moment, Li Tian Ci was able to see the spirits. He found it strange that so many people were present in this place.
Li Tian Ci shook his head, realizing later that people experience birth, aging, sickness, and death. But his mother and relatives were special; perhaps such things would not happen to their family. Li Tian Ci had never ventured out to play alone; it was always his mother Sera who took him around. He had seen all of Liyue.
He observed children running slowly, falling down and crying, while the elderly moved slowly but steadily, never falling but often looking troubled. Those around his age were always in a hurry, as if there were endless tasks to complete each day. Back then, he couldn't speak; otherwise, he would have liked to ask them what they were doing.
It wasn't until his mother began teaching him some basics that he understood more about life. Tian Ci would grow up too, transitioning from a child to an adult and eventually becoming an old man before passing away. As a child, he would learn and play joyfully. As an adult, he would work hard and earn money, feeling exhausted. In old age, he would rest—carefree yet burdened with worries.
However, that was the life of ordinary people; their family's situation was different. "You'll understand when you grow up," she would say. "Honestly, you're still just a child but already want to walk your own path without needing me to carry you."
"Tian Ci, grow slowly; I still want to hold you."
