As long as the duration is sufficient, there’s no problem.
Simba casually devoured the surrounding monsters. Li Tian Ci lay on Simba's head, gazing at the clouds drifting across the sky. The aura emanating from him enveloped the area; any monster that respawned would interact with him and subsequently be killed by Simba. Not only did Simba's level rise, but Li Tian Ci's strength also increased, making it a win-win situation. However, Li Tian Ci was not particularly interested in power.
The skill "Friend of Heaven and Earth," derived from the "Heaven and Earth Eye," mainly stemmed from Li Tian Ci's desire to make friends. Although he had gained power here, the idea of befriending others somewhat contradicted his current situation, though not entirely. Still, Simba was more than just a good friend to him; helping him was only natural.
Once Simba reached the limit of the Second Layer, they would leave. Simba was now much larger than before, able to consume more food and digest it better, which allowed for improved absorption of nutrients. His level was steadily climbing. Now at level forty-two, the monsters outside the city were only in their thirties, so while he still had an advantage over them, it was diminishing.
However, their numbers were still plentiful; with a casual bite, he could take down a whole bunch. As levels increased, monster distribution decreased; in higher-level areas, there weren’t as many monsters around. The rewards might not even be as good as here. Once he reached around level forty-five, the essence gained from monsters below level ten would diminish significantly. The difference of ten levels represented a gap in energy concentration and strength; consuming a large number of weaker monsters yielded less benefit than one pure specimen.
After a while, Simba finally reached level forty-five. Eating now felt less effective; it was time to move on to stronger places.
"Alright," Li Tian Ci agreed without objection since he was on Simba's head—wherever Simba went, he would follow. Li Tian Ci suddenly found great enjoyment in this lazy feeling of doing nothing and letting Simba take charge.
Simba soon arrived in a dark and eerie forest. Here, a group of undead creatures roamed. Li Tian Ci glanced at the floating Spirit Monsters above.
"Simba, can you eat these incorporeal monsters?"
"Of course I can. The essence of these Spirit Bodies is even more refined than that of other monsters," Simba replied confidently.
Just as he finished speaking, several lost Spirit Bodies collided with him. Naturally, Simba welcomed them and devoured one in a single bite.
"They're edible, but they have a bit of a musty taste," Simba remarked, smacking his lips.
Li Tian Ci sat up and surveyed the surroundings of the forest, filled with skeletons and Spirit Bodies. However, the death of the Spirit Bodies seemed to have gone unnoticed by the others.
"Can you chew through all those Skeleton Frames, Simba?"
Upon hearing Li Tian Ci's question, Simba promptly ate two skeletons to demonstrate.
"Even though their level is the same as mine, I'm quite different from these ordinary monsters. Undead creatures always have that musty flavor; they're not very tasty," he said while crunching on the bones. "After all, they've been around for a long time; a little flavor is normal."
Li Tian Ci chuckled at this. As Simba consumed the two skeletons, the other undead creatures turned their attention toward him. A fast-moving Skeleton Warrior stood at Simba's feet, staring up at him with curiosity.
The shimmering Ghost Fire within its skull seemed to reflect its confusion about the presence of such a large creature. Being watched by a crowd of skeletons felt rather unsettling for Simba. He swatted away the skeletons looking up at him with a swift motion.
