Li Yunqing's relatives didn't say much. In fact, he wasn't very familiar with them; they all lived in the countryside, and their children worked in various cities, only returning home once a year. Sometimes, even Li Guoqing and Ling were too busy to go back, having not visited their hometown for several years. Li Yunqing wouldn't go back on his own either. So, he only planned to inform his mother; as for the other relatives, he would just let fate take its course and hope for smoother paths ahead.
"You didn't mention you had six wives?"
"You didn't ask!"
Returning to reality, Ling looked at the six pregnant women before her and felt a bit overwhelmed. The children were growing up and would surely cause trouble. Although marriage policies had been relaxed, wasn't having six wives a bit excessive? They all looked good and were sweet-tongued, but Ling found it hard to accept at that moment. After Li Yunqing finished explaining, she still stared at him with a look of disbelief, as if saying he was joking.
With a thought, Li Yunqing took Ling to Liyue. She felt as if the world had spun around her for a moment before they arrived at Liyue. They stood atop the highest mountain there, where Li Yunqing had previously built a house. From this vantage point, they could see far into the distance.
Ling gazed down at what looked like large lizards with rocks on their backs and then at a group of people armed with knives and guns, preparing to confront masked figures. Rubbing her eyes and looking again, she turned back to Li Yunqing and pointed below, as if asking if this was real.
"Mom, it's right in front of you; how can you still not believe it?"
"It's not that I don't believe it; it's that I can't dare to believe it! What kind of alternate world is this?"
"An alternate world indeed!"
"Is it that fiery game?"
Ling knew about Genshin Impact, not because she played it much, but because the buzz created by MiHoYo caught her attention. After all, as a businesswoman, she was more focused on financial matters.
Moreover, being a businesswoman also meant she had a stronger capacity for acceptance; she quickly came to terms with the fact that her son was a bit of an oddball. As for Li Guoqing, since Si was currently on the rise, someone needed to keep an eye on him, and that responsibility fell solely on Ling.
Once Ling returned home, she would explain everything. Li Yunqing had transmitted a plethora of magic spells to Ling using his Heavenly Master Degree and had endowed her with additional magical power. As Ling began to wield magic, she found herself thoroughly enjoying it.
More importantly, the magical energy rejuvenated her body; she appeared to be in her twenties now. When she got home, Li Guoqing could hardly believe this was Ling. He thought she was a younger version of herself who had traversed time to stand before him. It took him a moment to realize it was due to Li Yunqing's abilities.
Excitedly, he rushed to find Li Yunqing. After all, with a son as impressive as that, he definitely wanted to connect with him—especially with such fun magic involved! As for Si, they could discuss that later.
When he arrived at Li Yunqing's house and saw six pregnant women, he was surprised despite having heard about them from Ling. He looked at Li Yunqing with admiration.
"Truly the offspring of our Li family! So capable!" Li Guoqing exclaimed, his eyes sparkling with pride as he gazed at Li Yunqing.
"Hmm?" Ling placed her hand on Li Guoqing's waist, her tone questioning what he was saying.
Feeling the soft flesh being pinched, Li Guoqing dared not say much and laughed awkwardly.
Soon after, Li Yunqing took Li Guoqing on a trip to Liyue to further discuss magic. Once they were seated together with Ling, he explained their purpose.
"Are you just trying to get us to take care of the kids?" she said. "That's fine, we were already planning to nudge you into finding a woman, but I didn't expect you to do it on your own."
"And not just one!"
"Not just six, either! There are six more on the way!"
Hearing her remarks laced with sarcasm, Li Yunqing rubbed his nose.
"Isn't this meant to be a surprise for you all?" he replied, glancing at Ling.
"You call this a surprise?"
She wanted a daughter-in-law and children, but not six daughters-in-law and six kids.
Li Yunqing's words seemed to calm Ling down a bit.
As for Li Guoqing, he didn't mind much. He was preparing for retirement in a few years anyway, so having a few kids around now felt like an early retirement gift.
Li Guoqing still looked as youthful as he did in his younger days. When their family went out together, people might even mistake them for siblings.
