However, the Shuiyun Tea had a noticeably smooth texture. After drinking it, one felt as if their body had been washed in water, leaving a refreshing sensation.
After a while, Sera glanced at the wooden cabin and then looked around.
"Master, should we build a house first?"
"There's no rush. We'll wait for that teacher to arrive. They just came back from a trip and built a house; it would surely surprise them."
Narrow Mist Mountain was home to only Taki Sakonji, so it was considered his territory. We would need his consent to build a house here.
"Oh, I see."
The three of them continued to wait, but it became a bit boring. So, they placed the teapot on the small tea table beside them, and Li Yunqing took out a deck of Poker cards.
"Feeling a bit bored, let’s play some Poker."
"Sounds good."
On the quiet slopes of Narrow Mist Mountain, the voices of the three echoed.
"Call the landlord."
"Not going to compete."
"Not competing."
"A three."
"Can't take that."
"Can't take that."
"Huh?"
He noticed that the two girls seemed to be letting him win.
"Come on, play seriously; this isn't fun otherwise."
Sera and Lilu Lu exchanged glances and nodded.
Seeing this, Li Yunqing continued to play his cards.
Li Yunqing watched Sera in silence as she continued to play her cards.
"Three flying," she announced.
"Not that," he replied. "Four."
Li Yunqing glanced at Sera's hand and then at his own, deep in thought as he considered his options. The three of them played several more rounds, and by the time they finished, the sky had begun to darken.
Just as Li Yunqing was about to play his hand after drawing from the deck, he sensed someone approaching the mountain. At this hour, it could only be Taki Sakonji from Narrow Mist Mountain.
He decided to wait for Taki Sakonji to arrive instead of worrying about it. Before long, a voice came from behind him.
"Who are you? What are you doing here? Don't you know it's dangerous on Narrow Mist Mountain at night?"
Taki Sakonji eyed the three of them warily. The sun was setting, casting a dim light, so they were not ghosts. However, he had noticed their quiet approach without any sound, and the villagers below hadn’t reported any strangers arriving, indicating that these three had some skill.
But he still wondered what their intentions were.
Li Yunqing stood up and walked over to Taki Sakonji.
"You must be Taki Sakonji of the Demon Slayer Corps," he said. "We are here to learn Water Breathing."
"You want to join the Demon Slayer Corps?" Taki Sakonji asked.
"We're just here to learn, but joining the Demon Slayer Corps could be interesting too. There are plenty of main storylines in the Corps."
Taki Sakonji gazed seriously through the mask of the Oni Gitsune at the three individuals before him. He was unaware of their true natures, but their knowledge of the Demon Slayer Corps and Breathing Techniques indicated they were familiar with demons. Could it be that demons had killed their family or friends? Yet, he sensed no lingering resentment from them.
"Why do you want to learn Breathing Techniques?" he asked.
The two girls replied that they found life in the city too boring. They had heard about demons and decided to eliminate them, but they also learned that only those who practiced Breathing Techniques and wielded the Nichirin Blade from the Demon Slayer Corps could do so. Hence, they had come here.
Taki Sakonji noted that they had no idea how they knew he was teaching Water Breathing, nor did they seem aware of his identity as Kagaya Ubuyashiki.
"And what about you?" he inquired. "You're their male companion; aren't you going to learn as well?"
"Me? I won't learn. I can grasp it just by watching once," came the confident reply.
"Arrogant!" Taki Sakonji reprimanded Li Yunqing. "You think you can master Breathing Techniques just by watching? Do you consider yourself a genius?"
However, he thought about it for a moment; there was indeed a prodigy in their ranks who had become a Hashira within two months. Perhaps this boy truly was talented.
He glanced at Li Yunqing and decided to let him be. If he could learn it, that would be a good thing.
