I instinctively lifted my head and saw a grand ship radiating with a golden light, slowly descending from the sky.
Onboard stood several Warriors clad in golden helmets and armor, emanating a dazzling brilliance. They looked like celestial beings descending from the heavens, exuding an extraordinary presence.
"What on earth is happening?"
I was momentarily stunned, filled with confusion, my eyes fixed on the incredible scene before me.
“Father, it’s the immortals come to save us!”
Yue Ya's voice carried a hint of excitement, and her once fearful little face now sparkled with a glimmer of hope.
Before I could recover from my shock, the Golden Armored Warriors had already leaped before us like lightning.
With a gentle wave of their hands, the raging flood was instantly pushed back.
The water level around us rapidly receded, and at the same time, the unbearable pain in my leg seemed to lessen significantly.
"Who are you?"
I gazed at these formidable Warriors, filled with awe, unable to help but ask.
One of the Warriors stepped forward, his voice deep and authoritative as he said:
"We are messengers of the Azure Emperor. We have come at his command to escort Princess Yuexi back to the palace."
"Back home?"
Hearing those two words, I couldn't help but freeze, a heavy feeling settling in my heart as an ominous premonition surged within me.
"Princess Yuexi is the biological daughter of the Azure Emperor.
She was unfortunately lost in the mortal realm when the Longma pulling her carriage was startled.
Fortunately, you kind-hearted people took her in, saving her from being devoured by wild beasts," the Warrior explained slowly, a hint of gratitude in his voice.
As I listened to his words, it felt as though something had lodged itself in my chest, making me feel utterly miserable.
Yue Ya was the child we had rescued from the mountains, our precious daughter whom we had painstakingly raised and were willing to risk everything to protect.
But now, she was revealed to be a celestial being, and soon she would be taken back to the Heavenly Palace, leaving us behind.
Suddenly, Yue Ya burst into tears, her small body trembling uncontrollably.
“Father, Mother, I don’t want the Heavenly Palace! I just want to be with you!”
Her tiny hands clutched tightly onto my arm, her nails nearly digging into my flesh.
I looked at her, my heart filled with helplessness.
I knew deep down that this separation was unavoidable.
But I couldn't let Yue Ya see my sadness. I wanted her to know that no matter when or where, her parents' love for her would never change.
"Daughter, don't cry. Listen to your father," I said.
I wiped the tears from my face and forced a smile as I softly continued, "You are the princess of the Heavenly Palace; the Heavenly Palace is your home. It is already a great blessing for us to have met you."
Upon hearing my words, Yue Ya cried even harder.
"Father, Mother, I really don't want to leave..."
The Warrior stepped forward and gently patted Yue Ya's shoulder, offering comfort.
"Princess, please stop crying. We are also following orders; we were sent by the Azure Emperor to bring you back to the palace.
It is difficult to go against divine will.
But rest assured, I promise you that your parents will be safe and sound in the mortal realm."
Yue Ya listened and nodded slightly, but the tears continued to flow uncontrollably.
