After the perilous battle, Su Yizhi and the others continued on their journey. The group remained silent, a sense of gloom hanging over them. They all understood that the road ahead would be fraught with dangers and uncertainties. Fu Xingchen gazed at the distant mountains, his brow furrowed. Noticing this, Mu Yunfan patted him on the shoulder and said, “Brother Fu, don’t look so worried. With so many of us united, we can overcome any challenge.” Fu Xingchen nodded slightly, forcing a smile as he replied, “ brother Mu, I’m just pondering about that mysterious organization. I wonder what tricks they might have up their sleeves; we need to plan ahead.” 0

At that moment, Lin Yu hurriedly caught up from the back of the group, tightly clutching a tattered book, his face brimming with excitement. “Brother Su, Brother Fu, brother Mu! I’ve made a great discovery while studying this ancient text! Back when we were fighting the plague in the village, although we managed to control it temporarily, I found several issues during the process. This book contains special herbal formulas that might improve our methods for dealing with diseases.” Su Yizhi’s eyes lit up as he said, “Lin Brother, you truly are the brains of our team! Please share the details with everyone.” 0

Upon hearing this, Lin Yu immediately unfurled the book and began to explain its contents in detail. The group gathered around him, all ears and focused intently. Zhao Gang scratched his head in confusion and asked, “Lin Brother, where are we supposed to find these herbs?” Lin Yu pointed to an illustration in the book and replied, “Most of these herbs grow deep in the mountains and forests. We might pass through areas where they grow next. However, finding them won’t be easy; we’ll need to identify them carefully.” 0

Mu Yunfan pondered for a moment before decisively stating, “No matter how difficult it is, we must search for them. This is crucial for our ability to better assist the people when faced with diseases in the future. Starting tomorrow, let’s all pay attention to our surroundings as we travel.” The others nodded in agreement. 0

As night fell, they found refuge in an abandoned dilapidated temple. Su Yizhi lay on the ground, gazing at the night sky outside the temple and lost in thought. He remembered the common people struggling to survive in these chaotic times and felt a deep sense of concern. Fu Xingchen noticed Su Yizhi’s expression and sat down beside him softly saying, “Brother Su, I understand what you’re thinking. We’ve witnessed too much suffering on this journey. Although our strength is limited, every life we save counts; each act of assistance is a tangible achievement.” Su Yizhi turned to look at Fu Xingchen and said, “Brother Fu, hearing you say that reassures me. Yet sometimes I feel lost; I wonder how long it will take before things truly improve.” 0

Fu Xingchen patted Su Yizhi’s shoulder and comforted him, “Brother Su, let’s take it one step at a time. As long as we persevere, there will always be a turning point. Just like how we came together initially; it didn’t happen overnight.” Just then, Mu Yunfan approached and sat down beside them. “I just checked on everyone; they’re all settled in. Let’s not lose heart; we’ve helped so many people along the way—that’s our reward. As long as we don’t give up, we can help even more in the future.” 0

The three of them looked up at the night sky without saying anything more. Suddenly, a cold wind blew through the temple door with a creaking sound that shattered the tranquility. Mu Yunfan quickly stood up and warned everyone, “Be careful!” The group instantly snapped to attention and grabbed their weapons in readiness. 0

After a while without any signs of danger, Zhao Gang sighed in relief and said, “It was probably just the wind; you scared me there.” However, Su Yizhi felt that things were not so simple. Cautiously walking to the door, he peered outside. In the darkness, he thought he saw several shadows flicker by but when he focused again, nothing was there. 0

Returning to the temple interior, Su Yizhi warned everyone: “Let’s stay alert tonight; don’t sleep too deeply. I have a feeling something is watching us from the shadows.” The group took his words seriously and decided to take turns keeping watch. 0

The next morning, they continued their journey with heightened vigilance, always alert to their surroundings. As they passed through a dense forest area, Lin Yu suddenly shouted, “Wait everyone! I think I see one of those herbs from the ancient text!” The group immediately gathered around him as Lin Yu pointed excitedly at a cluster of green plants. “This is it! It looks exactly like what’s illustrated in the book!” 0

Fu Xingchen examined it carefully and cautiously asked, “Lin Brother, are you sure? We can’t afford any mistakes.” Lin Yu confidently nodded and replied, “I’ve studied it repeatedly along the way; I remember it clearly.” Thus began their careful collection of herbs. Just then, a distant howl echoed through the air. Li Hu’s expression changed as he tightened his grip on his long knife and shouted loudly: “Not good! There’s a pack of wolves! Everyone be careful!” 0
