Mr. Hummingbird spread his wings, inviting everyone to follow him into Great Tree Hollow. The tree hollow was indeed spacious, with the walls adorned by a rare type of glowing mushroom, reminiscent of the Bioluminescent Fungi that Xiao Zhuzi and her friends had encountered in the Underground Cavern.
As soon as they settled in the reception area of the hollow, Xiao Zhuzi couldn't contain her excitement and asked, "Mr. Hummingbird, do you know where Huahua is? I came back to say a proper goodbye to Wise Snail Village Chief and Huahua."
Upon hearing this question, Mr. Hummingbird exchanged a grave glance with Snail Village Chief, and then both fell into silence, the air seeming to freeze around them. Xiao Zhuzi sensed the unusual atmosphere and a wave of unease washed over her. She vaguely realized that something terrible might have happened, so she quickly pressed on in a hushed voice, "Mr. Hummingbird, Wise Snail Village Chief, is something wrong? Is Huahua... is she okay?"
Snail Village Chief let out a deep sigh and slowly moved closer to Xiao Zhuzi, gently resting his antenna on her shoulder. Mr. Hummingbird gazed at Xiao Zhuzi, his eyes filled with tenderness and concern. "Xiao Zhuzi," he said softly, "you are a brave and strong child. I am sorry to have to tell you this... Huahua... she bravely sacrificed herself during the defense of Grass Leaf Forest."
Mr. Hummingbird's words struck like lightning, shattering Xiao Zhuzi's heart in an instant.
"No... it can't be..." Xiao Zhuzi murmured, tears welling up in her eyes. "Huahua... how could she..."
Grief surged over her like a tidal wave, and Xiao Zhuzi could no longer hold back her emotions; she broke down in tears. Fei Bao and Xi Xi rushed forward to embrace her tightly. Fei Bao gently patted Xiao Zhuzi's back with his wings while Xi Xi tenderly wiped away her tears with her antennae.
Watching this scene, Mr. Hummingbird felt his own eyes welling up with tears. He cleared his throat softly and continued, "Xiao Zhuzi, you should know that Huahua was a true little hero. At a critical moment during the Grass Leaf Forest Defense Battle, she charged into the Giant Moth's nest with the fire seed... destroying the enemy's lair in one fell swoop. It was because of her sacrifice that we were able to achieve complete victory so quickly. She is a true hero!"
Xiao Zhuzi's heart ached; Huahua had indeed been so brave! She lifted her tear-streaked face to look at Mr. Hummingbird. He walked over to his desk and retrieved a box from the back drawer, handing it to Xiao Zhuzi.
"This was found among the ashes of the Giant Moth Nest," he said.
Xiao Zhuzi opened the box and saw a warm-glowing ruby inside, within which faintly shimmered the silhouette of a Ladybug. "This... this is..." Xiao Zhuzi stammered, unable to find her words.
Mr. Hummingbird nodded solemnly. "We all agreed that this ruby should be kept by you. I believe it is what Huahua would have wanted—always to be close to her best friend."
Xiao Zhuzi held the Hua Hua Ruby tightly, feeling its warmth as if Huahua's radiant smile was shining through it once more.
Taking a deep breath, Mr. Hummingbird choked back his emotions and continued, "In this Grass Leaf Forest Defense Battle, we lost many companions... When you arrived earlier, you must have seen the Grass Leaf Hero Monument nearby. We have engraved the names of all those who sacrificed themselves for Chong Chong on it; every Grass Leaf Hero will never be forgotten."
As the sun set, casting a golden glow over Grass Leaf Forest, everyone followed Mr. Hummingbird out of the tree hollow and stood before the Grass Leaf Hero Monument. Xiao Zhuzi looked up at the monument and saw Huahua's name etched there. She reached out and gently touched where Huahua's name was inscribed; tears flowed once more, dripping onto the Hua Hua Ruby in her hands.
Xiao Zhuzi knew it was time to say goodbye.
Wise Snail Village Chief slowly moved beside Xiao Zhuzi as she embraced him tightly. "Thank you, Wise Snail Village Chief," she said through her tears. "Thank you for your care and protection; I will never forget you and Aunt Snail."
Then Xiao Zhuzi turned to her closest companions—Fei Bao and Xi Xi. The three little friends stood facing each other, momentarily choked up with emotion. Xi Xi took off her backpack and solemnly handed over the Hourglass Spiral Gem to Xiao Zhuzi. Holding two gems that symbolized friendship and courage in her arms made Xiao Zhuzi's vision blur once again.
"Fei Bao, Xi Xi," Xiao Zhuzi cried out, "I... I really don’t know how to say goodbye."
Fei Bao held back his tears: "Then let’s not say goodbye at all. Let’s just say... see you next time."
The three friends who had faced life-and-death situations together embraced tightly once more, their tears soaking each other's shoulders as they reminisced about every adventure they had shared—the challenges they had overcome together, every laugh they had shared while outsmarting Box-Head Bullfrog or flooding Scorpion Tomb; encouraging each other through dark underground tunnels; escaping hand in hand from terrifying Lava Lake; navigating through chaotic time streams together… Each memory surged forth like waves—so warm and precious.
"Fei Bao, Xi Xi," Xiao Zhuzi said earnestly, "thank you for always being there for me and protecting me; this experience is something I will never forget for my entire life. We will always be the best of friends!"
Taking a deep breath while holding both gems close to her heart, she picked up the small bottle containing Time-Space Potion one last time and cast a lingering glance at her friends surrounding her.
"See you next time, Xi Xi, Fei Bao. Until we meet again, Wise Snail Village Chief, Mr. Hummingbird. I will definitely miss you all!"
With that, Xiao Zhuzi tilted her head back and drank the Time-Space Potion. A gentle light enveloped her, and her figure gradually became blurred, finally disappearing into the twilight of Grass Leaf Forest.
