Without further ado, Mother Mouse Rabbit hurried home to gather her family. In addition to Mouse Rabbit Father and Mother Mouse Rabbit, there were eight Little Mouse Rabbits. Mother Mouse Rabbit explained the situation and Xiao Zhuzi's plan. The thought of leaving the dark underground, seeing the outside world, and reuniting with the Mouse Rabbit family filled everyone with excitement.
Mouse Rabbit Father calmed the chattering children and said in a deep voice, "Hello, new friends we are meeting for the first time. Your idea is great, but there are many details to discuss regarding how to execute it. For instance, if we want to use the lake water to break through the thinnest part of the rock wall, we need a strong flow of water to create a sudden impact. To achieve this, we not only need to dig a waterway but also design a controllable dam at the diversion point. Additionally, to prevent ourselves from being swept away, we must find a safe place to hide and ensure we have enough time to evacuate."
Xiao Zhuzi looked at Mouse Rabbit Father with admiration; he was indeed a calm and wise father. She smiled and said, "Mouse Rabbit Father, you are absolutely right! How should we go about making this controllable dam? Do you have any good ideas?"
"Well..." Mouse Rabbit Father pondered before slowly speaking, "I once saw a type of Flap Dam back in my hometown that is particularly suitable for our plan. This Flap Dam... well... it's not difficult to make. We need several thick wooden boards tied tightly with Grass Rope and fixed at the diversion point. Then we can use another piece of Grass Rope to control one of the boards so it can flip open. As for the materials for making the boards and Grass Rope, we'll have to sneak into Mistwood Forest while the poisonous fog dissipates."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Zhuzi and Xi Xi simultaneously exclaimed, "I'll be responsible for going out to find materials for making the dam!" They exchanged knowing smiles.
Fei Bao flapped his wings eagerly and said, "Then I'll find the weakest spot on the rock wall leading to Scorpion Tomb and mark it! Also, I need to find a safe evacuation point for all of us!"
"Great! I'll stay here and work on the dam's design," Mouse Rabbit Father said as he picked up a small twig, preparing to find a flat piece of ground to sketch out his plans.
Mother Mouse Rabbit was inspired by everyone's enthusiasm and happily added, "Then I'll take the children to start digging the waterway, beginning from the stone wall location that little Fei Bao marked. By the time we reach Lake Side, your dam should be ready too! At that point, we can open the sluice gate!"
So after a night of rest, everyone got busy with their respective tasks early the next morning.
Xiao Zhuzi and Xi Xi spent most of the day gathering enough thick branches and plenty of grass leaves before the Purple Poison Fog reappeared. Then they began working on constructing the Flap Dam alongside Mouse Rabbit Father. Xiao Zhuzi and Xi Xi wove long Grass Ropes from grass leaves; they had practiced this skill while making traps for Box-Head Bullfrog before, so they were quick and efficient this time. Meanwhile, Fei Bao and Mouse Rabbit Father trimmed the thick branches to equal sizes and placed them side by side before tying them together with Grass Rope into several sturdy wooden planks. Finally, they attached one long Grass Rope to one of the planks for manually opening the sluice gate.
After testing the flexibility of the flap by pulling on the Grass Rope and confirming that everything was in order with the Flap Dam, they worked together to secure it firmly at Lake Side.
Meanwhile, Mother Mouse Rabbit and her Little Mouse Rabbits had nearly finished digging their waterway. One end connected with Fei Bao's marked rock wall location while the other end was close to Lake Side. When Xiao Zhuzi approached to inspect it, she was immediately stunned by this impressive waterway!
She quickly called over Xi Xi and Fei Bao—Mouse Rabbit Family truly lived up to their reputation as expert diggers! They had not only dug a wide and deep channel but also reinforced both sides with stones to ensure that water could accurately rush toward the weak point in the rock wall without deforming or redirecting due to excessive flow.
Xiao Zhuzi praised Mother Mouse Rabbit and her Little Mouse Rabbits enthusiastically until Mother Mouse Rabbit felt shy from all the compliments. The Little Mouse Rabbits jumped around excitedly while chattering nonstop. Two mischievous ones even playfully tackled Xiao Zhuzi, rubbing against her until her face was covered in dirt. Xi Xi and Fei Bao laughed so hard they could barely stand up straight.
Holding down another Little Mouse Rabbit that was trying to pounce on her again, Xiao Zhuzi chuckled, "Alright now, no more fooling around! Once the time is right, we can activate the dam and show those Scorpions what we're made of!" After saying this, she noticed that Mouse Rabbit Father had checked and reinforced the Flap Dam once more before walking over with dirt on his hands. She turned to Fei Bao and said, "Fei Bao, it's all up to you now!"
