"It seems that I have indeed heard this saying before..." He drifted off into his thoughts, his expression distant. "I remember there is a saying: a person dies twice, once when their body decays, and once when they are forgotten..." 0

"In this world, being forgotten is no different from being dead... And here, once forgotten, it means the end of fate..." He murmured, as if recalling something important, suddenly looking up at me. "And you?" 0

"Me?" I raised an eyebrow. "What about me?" 0

"Since this place is one of severed ties, will you also be 'forgotten'?" His face was filled with confusion. "But I feel like you remember many things? Even parts that I have already forgotten... Is it because you are the ferryman, making you an exception?" 0

"No, the reason I remember is simply because these memories do not belong to me," I replied calmly. 0

"Huh?" He looked puzzled. "Do not belong to you? What does that mean?" 0

"After all, the memories I know all belong to this space. Everything related to the souls who have come here to take the ferry, everything that has happened here... all of these are memories belonging to this space. Even I am merely a part of this memory," I explained. 0

"What about your own memories?" he asked. 0

"Huh?" I tilted my head in confusion. 0

"Your own memories?" 0

"I?" I was momentarily bewildered, my mind blank. 0

After a long moment of contemplation, I shook my head lightly. 0

"I don't have any memories that belong to me." 0

"Why? Isn't that strange?" He seemed somewhat indignant on my behalf. 0

"Is it?" I shrugged, unconcerned. "After all, I'm just a Ferryman." 0

"But before this, you must have been an ordinary person, right? If that's the case, you should at least have some past of your own." 0

"Maybe?" I stroked my chin, pondering for a moment. "But then again, it's quite normal to forget after staying in a place devoid of connections for so long." 0

"Including yourself?" He suddenly appeared bewildered. "Not only forgetting others, but even forgetting yourself completely?" 0

"Yes, of course." I continued to smile nonchalantly. "After all, it's a place without ties." 0

He looked at me in shock, speechless. 0

"...How can you be so indifferent about it?" 0

I regarded him as if it were obvious. 0

"Because I don't have any memories that belong to me. No connections, no bonds—nothing at all!" I smiled apathetically. "Right now, I'm just a Ferryman." 0

He fell silent, seemingly unsure of how to respond. 0

"…Are you having regrets?" I looked at him calmly. "If you feel regret, it's not too late to turn back now." 0

"I…" His usually impassive expression revealed a rare struggle. 0

"While you still haven't completely forgotten and can still hold onto your 'self,' go back to the world and gather the fare for the ferry," I gently urged. "If you continue to hesitate like this, soon there will be nothing left." 0

"I…" 0

Yet even with his mind in turmoil, he remained steadfastly rooted in place. 0

I truly couldn't understand his behavior. 0

"I ask you, what reason do you have for being so indecisive?" 0

He furrowed his brow, looking bitterly at the ever-murky surface of the River of Oblivion. 0

"I'm sorry, I just… need to think it over more… need to consider it carefully…" 0
