Ivan, with his bulging belly, rushed in with four young police officers, one of whom was his nephew, while the others were local boys who had recently retired from the military under Boyka's influence. Each one was someone he could trust.
"You give me hope, Igor," he said.
Director Igor looked at Ivan's grim face, opened his mouth but couldn't utter a word. His phone fell helplessly to the ground as two young officers placed handcuffs on him, while on the other end of the line, Sergei weakly hung up.
He rubbed his face and gritted his teeth. "Who can escort me out? I'll reward a million dollars to each!"
This declaration made the fugitives' breaths quicken. They were doing this job with a guilty conscience, but wasn't it all for the money?
However, no matter which way they tried to break out, they would be met with sniper fire. The bodies piling up on the ground told them just how accurate their opponents were.
Ah, Suka Blyat!
The few strong men guarding the basement went wild as soon as the door opened, firing at it like crazy. The gunfire drowned out the sound of flashbangs hitting the ground. Outside the door, Xu Li and Alexei silently counted down the seconds.
Bang!
Ah!
A Gan A Gan!
As soon as the gunfire stopped, screams filled the air. Alexei was the first to charge down, shouting for them to open fire. Xu Li remained silent, continuously pulling the trigger. Even when he heard a jammed round, he didn't let go of his empty gun; instead, he grabbed it by the barrel like a baseball bat.
With a single swing, he struck a thug who was covering his eyes and screaming, causing him to spit out blood mixed with teeth. He pulled out his gun and fired at the man: bang!
Click click click click!
Alexei covered Xu Li as he reloaded his weapon before switching out his magazine. The two of them cautiously moved forward, aiming at groups of trembling figures huddled in small spaces resembling dog kennels.
After confirming there were no threats after a thorough sweep, they slowly approached the entrance of the next level. Alexei tossed a flashbang down the stairs. Xu Li vaguely heard hurried footsteps; after the flashbang exploded, Alexei charged down first, followed by a series of gunshots.
Xu Li leaped and kicked Alexei off the stairs just in time; two bullet holes appeared where Alexei had just stood.
Tat tat tat tat tat tat!
Despite the pain, Alexei kept pulling the trigger until their opponents were riddled with bullets. Finally breathing a sigh of relief, he touched his shoulder where he had hit it during the fall and nodded at Xu Li as he came down. The two carefully began to explore further.
"Don't come any closer or I'll kill him!" shouted one thug hiding behind a boy, pressing his gun against the back of the child's head.
Xu Li rolled his eyes and straightforwardly tossed away his weapon. He dove into the cage, grabbed the gun's body and lifted it up before drawing his pistol and firing a shot at the thug's head.
He picked up the little boy, who was so scared he couldn't even cry, and gently rubbed his head. "I'll take you out soon. It's safe to hide here for now."
"Thank you, Uncle," the boy replied.
Alexei glanced at the boy, who seemed to be around eleven years old, about the same age as his younger brother. A wave of hatred for these scoundrels surged within him.
