He glanced at the disconnected phone, rolled his eyes, and continued to rest his eyes. Soon, Anna and Eva stormed over, plopping down beside Xu Li. Eva took a sip of coconut juice and exclaimed, "I'm so furious!"
"What happened?" Xu Li slowly opened his eyes. Eva pointed to a group of laughing Black men in the distance. "That one who's laughing the loudest just tried to touch my butt and asked me if I was lonely. It's disgusting!"
"Oh, you two just sit here," he said as he stood up, placing his phone on the small table. Stretching his neck and shoulders, he walked toward the group of Black men. The laughter among them gradually faded as they noticed Xu Li approaching. One muscular man on the left, covered in tattoos on his chest and back, looked at him with a mix of curiosity and caution.
"Who just tried to touch my wife's butt?" Xu Li scanned the faces of the five men. A strong man who was half a head shorter than Xu Li forced a smile and spoke in broken Mandarin, "There must be some misunderstanding?"
Smack!
Xu Li slapped him hard, sending him crashing to the ground. He turned to the other four. "Who did it?"
The short one on the right opened his mouth to respond but was met with another slap that sent him sprawling onto the sand, rolling his eyes as he convulsed. The other three, unsure of what loyalty meant in this situation, turned and ran, only to be chased down by Xu Li, who kicked them down one by one.
His feet greeted their faces with disdain. "You worthless dogs!"
"Uncle, please don’t kill them!" one of the bystanders shouted.
"Yeah, Uncle, these guys aren’t worth it," another added.
Several nearby tourists rushed in to intervene, trying to calm Xu Li down. A young girl recognized him and urged even more fervently, "Please don’t kill them! You could end up in jail!"
"Me? Your grandfather?" Xu Li paused his kicking and glanced at the girl, who was relatively pretty. He chuckled lightly. "I can’t bear such an impressive title; after all, it's still early in the day."
The tourists burst into laughter as Xu Li continued to push the three men forward. Before long, all five were kneeling obediently in a row while onlookers captured the scene with their phones; a few streamers were even broadcasting live.
Everyone got a clear view of these men.
Xu Li stood before them with a cigarette dangling from his lips. "These scumbags harassed my wife. What do you all think? Should they be punished?"
"Yes!" came the chorus from the crowd.
"And should they be kicked out of our China?"
"Yes!"
"Alright then, disperse!"
A few members of the Hat Uncle team received a call from a concerned citizen and pushed their way through the crowd. Xu Li pointed at the strongest-looking Black man and said to the leader of the Hat Uncle team, "I suspect this man is a spy; he has a tattoo of a dagger from the Seal Team on the back of his neck."
"Are you sure?" one of them asked.
The group's expressions sharpened. Xu Li nodded, "Then it's confirmed. My uncle used to carry out missions abroad and often worked alongside elite soldiers from Old America. He’s taken down more than just a few. When he came back to visit, he talked about it at the dinner table and even showed me those tattoos, so I remember them vividly."
"You're not lying, are you?"
The Black man began to defend himself, "That was just a random design I picked."
"Oh, your Chinese is pretty good!" Xu Li sneered as he stepped forward and kicked him again. "Do you think I'm an idiot? Members of the Dagger Squad all have that tattoo on the back of their necks. What are the odds that you just happened to randomly choose that exact design for yourself?"
