Daria shrank into the Boss Chair, kicked off her boots, and propped her feet up on the table, shaking them occasionally. She felt like she had finally found some relief; with the men and Anna away, the ranch was hers to command. With just a word, she could get anything done, and that feeling was indescribably satisfying!
Zhuo Ya entered with a bottle of mixed drink, placing the half-empty bottle on the table. "Auntie asked me to warm this up."
"What are you doing? Your hands are freezing! It's so annoying!" Daria swatted at Zhuo Ya's icy fingers, but she quickly realized that they were not in the same league, and soon surrendered.
That evening, it was just the three of them for dinner. Daria took a sip of Borscht and said, "Your parents will be home this afternoon. It’s tough on Xiao Qi and Xiao Ba; they’ve been bouncing around for days."
"Boys are tough," Zhuo Ya replied, sipping her drink and munching on some cucumber salad. "Just two more until graduation. After that, Auntie will have to keep an eye on me; I’m worried I won’t manage well."
"If I hand over the ranch to you, I’ll be free!" Daria picked up the bottle and toasted with Zhuo Ya and Irina. "I’ve already talked to your dad. Once you graduate from college and take over the ranch, Irina and I will travel with your mom while your dad stays home to take care of the kids."
"You don’t know your dad; he dotes on Xiao Qi and Xiao Ba so much. Just wait until he arrives—you’ll definitely feel jealous, believe it or not!"
"Why would I be jealous of Old Son? There’s nothing to be jealous about." Zhuo Ya took a bite of beef. "By the way, Ivan and Lana have been married for a while now, but why hasn’t Lana shown any signs of pregnancy? And Kozilov and Bella are in the same boat—they all got married around the same time as Ivanov and Nadia, who are already two months along."
"Kozilov and Bella probably haven’t had enough fun yet," Daria said as she wiped her mouth with a napkin. "I heard from your dad a long time ago that frequent pregnancies can be hard on a woman’s body. That’s why he’s so protective of Lana—just like your dad. He wants Lana to take care of herself before having another baby. And Katyusha is still young; he worries it might be inconvenient for Lana to handle both kids while caring for her grandmother."
"But her grandmother is quite healthy," Zhuo Ya pointed out.
"That’s just an excuse; deep down, he cares about Lana," Irina chimed in after finishing her drink.
"Let’s stop talking about them and focus on tidying up our place. Xiao Qi and Xiao Ba are coming soon! I haven’t even held them yet! In this messy environment, Mom is definitely going to scold us."
With that, she tossed aside her napkin and headed to the bedroom to tidy up. Zhuo Ya shrugged and pulled out her phone, dialing a few childhood friends. Soon enough, seven or eight girls arrived at the Village Chief's House, chatting and laughing as they helped clean up while snacking on some food.

Meanwhile, at a dance hall in Vatsk Town, seven or eight girls surrounded a booth, drinking beer and smoking cigarettes while their eyes scanned the dance floor for potential partners. Zhukov immediately set his sights on Maria, a local girl with wavy flaxen hair, wearing a snug white sweater and light blue jeans that accentuated her figure.
Larryf noticed his buddy staring intently at Maria and quickly advised him, "Hey man, don’t get carried away! Maria is like a porcupine covered in thorns—many boys from several villages have tried their luck with her but none have succeeded. Don’t embarrass yourself!"
