"Oh no, I killed someone! I killed someone!" 0

Irina threw herself into Zhuo Ya's arms, sobbing uncontrollably. The sudden gunfire had startled the Drunkard, causing him to release his grip. However, he didn't flee; instead, he was kicked a few times by Zhuo Ya at the back of his neck, leaving him dazed on the ground. 0

"Uncle, Irina and I are on Seryshev Road. Can you come here? I killed someone." 0

She didn't mention that it was Irina who had fired the gun; instead, she took the blame upon herself. There was still a difference in their statuses—her uncle would surely protect her, but Irina's fate was uncertain. 0

Irina cried so hard that her words were barely intelligible. About ten minutes later, three police cars and an ambulance arrived at their location. 0

The two Drunkards were dressed in shabby clothes with worn-out shoes, indicating they weren't from wealthy families. Ivan instructed Zhuo Ya and Irina to get into the car and nodded to his subordinates before driving away from the scene. 0

"Let's talk to your uncle." 0

Ivan lit a cigarette as he drove home. Zhuo Ya recounted the events but replaced Irina's actions with her own. Ivan glanced at his niece in the rearview mirror and smiled: "Little girl, do you think your uncle has been a cop for decades for nothing?" 0

"Get some good sleep when we get home. Tomorrow, just go to the police station and give your statement. I'll make sure you know what to say." 0

He looked at Irina, still sobbing, and shook his head. "This girl is too timid. It's not a big deal; it was just self-defense!" 0

After parting ways with Ivan, Zhuo Ya wrapped her arms around Irina and settled onto the couch. Peter heard the door open from upstairs and called down, "Zhuo Ya, are you back so soon?" 0

"Yeah," she replied softly. 0

Gently patting Irina's back, Zhuo Ya noticed that the little girl had likely been overwhelmed by fear and gradually fell asleep in her embrace. Peter came down with damp hair and saw Irina's tear-streaked face, looking puzzled. "Why is she still crying?" 0

"She killed someone." 0

"Come on, that's not a joke to make." 0

Peter went into the kitchen to pour two cups of warm water and handed one to Zhuo Ya. "What exactly happened?" 0

Zhuo Ya explained the situation in detail. Peter shrugged dismissively. "What's the big deal? You were acting in self-defense while those two were committing armed robbery. You took the gun from one of them, and it went off during the struggle." 0

Seeing Lao San staring at him, Peter shrugged again. "If you don't believe me, just wait and see. The police will definitely let you say that; they've even prepared evidence for you." 0

After finishing his drink, he stood up and headed upstairs. "Get some rest. My dad has killed quite a few people in self-defense when I was a kid, and he never got locked up for it—it's just something you get used to." 0

Zhuo Ya pouted and carried the sleeping Irina back to her room. 0

After arriving home, Ivan called Xu Li to explain what had happened in a relaxed tone. "Do you want to call and talk to those two girls?" 0

"No need; Zhuo Ya is brave enough. She can handle Irina," Xu Li replied. "Is everyone coming home for New Year this year?" 0

Ivan thought for a moment. "That works too. Valentin went back with Safna last year; this year other kids will come home for New Year as well. They can all stay at your place for a few days." 0

I’ll go back with Anna and the others to tidy up the room. 0

After hanging up the phone, Xu Li stretched lazily and said, "Those two girls really don’t make it easy." 0

"Misha, I want to eat watermelon!" Misha exclaimed. 0
