Father and Old Xu Jia stood up to greet Old Father, who had just come from the ranch.
These two boys had lost some weight, but the more I looked at them, the less they seemed like boys. The brothers looked quite similar, dressed appropriately for their age, but their faces were becoming increasingly delicate, almost like young girls.
"Did you two put on makeup?" Xu Li noticed something was off, and her loud voice startled everyone in the living room.
Lao Si shrank his neck, not daring to meet Old Father's gaze. Eva came from the kitchen, her bright green eyes glaring at her husband. She raised her chin and asked, "What are you yelling at the kids for?"
Xu Li stepped forward and pointed at the corners of the brothers' eyes. "Look at them! What kind of makeup is that on a good boy?"
"It's just a light makeup that's in style now," Lao Si explained quietly but was immediately met with a slap on the back of his head from Old Father.
"How old are you? Are you a girl? You two better stop with that makeup, or I'll break your legs!"
"You wouldn’t dare," Eva protected the two kids behind her, standing firm against Xu Li. Seeing that her husband wasn’t joking, she felt a bit uncertain. "The kids rarely come here; can you stop nagging them?"
"Exactly because they come so rarely! Look at how effeminate they look—do they even resemble boys?" Xu Li smacked both brothers on their heads. "If I see you wearing makeup again after washing up..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Eva wrapped her arms around his waist, gesturing silently to Lao Si to move closer to Wei Jian: "Break our legs!"
"Just know it," Xu Li gently pushed Eva away and kissed her on the lips. "No more talking about it."
"The kids are here."
Eva shot her husband a glare before turning back to the kitchen. The kids on the sofa were either petting cats or playing with hamsters, each trying to suppress their laughter.
"What are you looking at?" At the dining table, Zhuo Ya and Irina were cozily eating together while Lao Si and Old Father stared blankly at them.
When Zhuo Ya shot them a glare, they quickly shook their heads in denial: "We weren’t looking!"
"Hmph."
Zhuo Ya raised her glass and clinked it with Old Father's. "Are the eldest and second coming?"
It seems they won't be coming anymore. Kamila is still waiting for the results, and my second brother is accompanying his father-in-law. Next year, both he and his wife will come for the New Year, and from now on, they will alternate years for the celebrations.
Xu Li handed a freshly grilled piece of beef tongue to Irina, while ribs were served to Anna and Eva. "I heard Angelina gave you a gift? I haven't seen you take it out."
"I didn't want it," Zhuo Ya said as she took a swig of vodka. "She wanted to give me a drone, but that thing isn't practical, and the maintenance costs are too high, so I declined."
"Are you just bragging?" Lao San asked.
Lao Yi looked skeptical, and Zhuo Ya rolled her eyes. "Believe it or not, Little Sissy."
"Who are you talking about?" Little Guy jumped up immediately, ready to bang on the table, but when he saw Old Father staring at him, he quickly lowered his head and fell silent.
"You guys from Sister Natasha's family are wealthy, so there's no need to doubt Lao San's words! Let's eat."
"Oh," Zhuo Ya glanced at the old man who looked worn out, then huffed lightly as she opened her mouth. Irina quickly served her a piece of grilled meat, making the brothers' eyelids twitch.
That evening, Lao Si, Old Liu, Uncle Andong, and Lisa gathered in the study. Each had their notebooks open, engrossed in their roles during an intense gaming session when Irina brought in two plates of fruit.
Sitting behind Lisa and Peter, I noticed the two crouched behind a box without moving. Curiously, I asked, "Isn't this a shooting game? Why are you using shovels?"
