"What are you looking at? If you keep staring at me, be careful I might hit you." Zhuo Ya glared at the younger guy across the sofa, his big eyes making Peter feel a chill down his back. He quickly turned to Lisa and started playing a mobile game with her. Lisa smiled and winked at Zhuo Ya, who shrugged and continued playing on his phone.
"Happy Birthday, Sister-in-law!" Xu Li entered the living room carrying a gift. She hurriedly greeted You Ya with a kiss on the cheek and handed over the present. Then she patted Lisa's head, who looked up and sweetly smiled, "Uncle."
"Wow, my Lisa is getting more beautiful," Xu Li chuckled, ignoring Old Son beside her. She went to the balcony to chat and smoke with Brother Ivan. Anna and Eva wanted to help in the kitchen but were pushed out by You Ya and the two daughters-in-law, leaving them to sit on the sofa and chat.
"Mom, look at this dress!" Irina held her phone in front of Anna. "This dress is beautiful; it would look great with white platform sneakers."
Anna tightened her embrace around Irina and said cheerfully, "Let's buy it! When we have a holiday in two days, I'll take you shopping."
With a kiss on Anna's cheek, Irina nestled into her arms and said, "Thank you, Mom."
Peter, feeling confused, asked, "Mom, when did you start considering Irina as your daughter?"
"That's none of your business!" Zhuo Ya shot him an annoyed glance before waving Lisa over to sit beside him. "In two days, we’ll go shopping together; I’ll pick you up."
The two happily whispered to each other while Peter was left out. Just as he was about to ask Eva for clarification, Xu Li called from the balcony, "Your sister-in-law said you've been doing well since school started. Keep it up and don’t get too cocky." After pinching his arm lightly, she added, "I'll help you get a Fitness Card; you need to work out more. Look at how skinny you are!"
Peter blinked his eyes and flexed his arms to show off his muscles. "Aren't these muscles impressive? This is what they call looking slim in clothes but fit without them. So many girls like this!"
Xu Li and Ivan laughed dismissively and turned their heads away, waving him off.
After dinner and some chatting, everyone went their separate ways. Peter and Lisa headed towards Eva's place while Anna took Zhuo Ya and Irina to Xu Li's car. They left the community and parted ways.
Eva dropped Lisa off and spent some time at Andrei's house before saying goodbye to Peter as they headed towards Nephew's home. Peter gazed out the window at the street scenery and couldn't help but wonder aloud, "Mom, why did you decide to accept Irina as your daughter?"
After thinking for a moment, Eva replied, "First of all, Irina is Zhuo Ya's girlfriend. They definitely can't get married under these circumstances but still want to be together. Secondly, regarding Irina's background... many people in our village now are those your father brought here in recent years."
You were spoiled by your parents since childhood, and you might not understand the upbringing of many ordinary kids. Irina belongs to that category. You both attended elementary school together and started high school in the same class. Irina was bullied many times at school, and if I remember correctly, you bullied her back in the fourth grade, didn't you?
