"Thank you so much, Misha. With so much money, it's no wonder the kids are trying to get you to drink more," You Ya said as she poured hot water for Xu Li. Xu Li took the cup and took a sip, immediately hissing as he blew on it. "You should head back early. I can only imagine how messy things are at home with my brother and the kids." 0

Before You Ya could finish, Xu Li stumbled towards the door, saying, "I'm fine here. Zhuo Ya's girlfriend probably won't be back tonight." 0

"Alright, I'll head out then. Call me if you need anything." You Ya waved her hand and pushed the door open to leave. Xu Li returned to the sofa, thought for a moment, and decided to video call Anna. As soon as it connected, Daria's cheerful voice came through, "You owe us money!" 0

Xu Li rolled his eyes. "Are you planning to party from morning till night?" 0

Anna looked at her drunken husband with a frown. "Why did you drink so much?" 0

"It's Ivan's fault! He couldn't keep up with me, so he called everyone over—three sons and two sons-in-law—insisting on having a drink-off with me." 0

"Has my brother lost his mind?" 0

Eva grabbed the phone with concern written all over her face. "Are you okay?" 0

"If I were in trouble, would I be calling you? Hehe, I managed to take them all down!" Xu Li chatted with them for a while before hanging up. Leaning back against the sofa, he found himself lost in thought. He wanted some water but found it too hot, so he grabbed a bottle of low-alcohol fruit wine from the fridge—blueberry flavor, Eva's favorite. 0

He gulped down a whole bottle and smacked his lips, tilting his head in surprise at how good it was. Since the alcohol content was low, he grabbed another bottle of lemon-flavored wine, which had a sweet and sour taste that made it impossible for him to stop drinking. As he continued, he shook his head in disbelief at how strong this wine was. 0

He placed the empty bottle on the kitchen counter, which clearly labeled it as a mixed drink. Zhuo Ya had bought it earlier while shopping with his girlfriend Irina, intending to save it for Sunday to enjoy together but ended up drinking two bottles in one go. 0

Suddenly, heavy footsteps approached from one of the bedrooms. Zhuo Ya and the petite Irina immediately stopped their discussion about studies, panting quietly in fear. Zhuo Ya turned off the bedside lamp and shifted closer to his girlfriend on the bed, trying to arrange the blanket neatly. 0

"I need to take a shower," he muttered. 0

Feeling hot all over, he groggily went upstairs, stumbling as he entered Wei Jian's room. He stripped off his clothes and rinsed himself under cold water; only someone as strong as him could handle such recklessness—anyone else would have shivered and run away by now. 0

After turning off the water faucet and drying his hair and body, he sat down by the bed and turned on the lamp to look closely at a photo. In it was a five or six-year-old Zhuo Ya sitting on his neck, making a peace sign for the camera. He had developed several copies of this photo; one was in their house while another was in their countryside cabin—this was his favorite picture. 0

"Look how you've grown up now, little cotton-padded jacket," he mused. 0

Perhaps the effects of the alcohol were wearing off; he began talking more freely. "When you were little, you were such a sweet girl—cute and obedient—always caring for your dad. Now that you've grown up, you argue with me! No matter how much you argue though, you're still my precious child." 0

"Well, if you don't want to get married, then don't. Your father will support you for life, as long as you're happy. I will back every decision you make; after all, you're my only daughter." 0

Behind him, a corner of the blanket was pulled back, revealing a pair of tear-filled eyes. Irina quietly peeked out, immediately taken aback by the broad shoulders and the scars that adorned them. Feeling a bit scared, she squeezed closer to Zhuo Ya, tucking her little head into her neck. 0

"Oh my, the effects of this alcohol are really strong." 0

He shook his head slightly, placing the photo down, turned off the bedside lamp, and burrowed under the covers, muttering to himself, "Hey, taking a cold shower really makes it feel warm in here. Time to sleep." 0

The two girls stifled their laughter, trying not to make too much noise. It was a struggle to hold it in. Before long, soft breathing could be heard as Irina was pulled into the middle by Zhuo Ya. Startled, the little girl clung tightly to her: "What are you doing? What if we wake him up?" 0

"He won't," Zhuo Ya replied confidently. 0

Then she turned her eyes and whispered something in Irina's ear. 0

Irina's eyes widened in shock as she looked at Zhuo Ya: "Are you crazy? You think I don't know you like him?" 0

Her words left Irina speechless for a moment. After a long pause, she slowly shook her head and kissed Zhuo Ya: "But liking someone and taking action are two different things." 0

"Oh you little girl," Zhuo Ya teased. "Like him? Uncle will buy you something." 0

"What do you want? Next time Uncle will take you and Zhuo Ya to eat here again?" 0

"If anyone dares to bully you or Zhuo Ya in the future, just call Uncle. With me around, no one can bully you!" 0

"Here, Uncle has a gift for you." 0

This was the first man who treated her this way. Although he looked fierce, his eyes were gentle! 0

Her own father and stepfather only knew how to drink after work, venting their frustrations from the day on her mother and her. 0

Only this man treated her well; he was wealthy and powerful— even the police greeted him politely. 0

If she followed this man, surely she and her mother wouldn’t have to worry about living in the future? 0

The next morning, he went downstairs with an empty mind. Irina's little face was as red as a tomato as she sat at the dining table, nervously fiddling with her fingers while stealing glances at Xu Li. After a while, she finally spoke up: "Good morning, Uncle." 0

"Good morning," he replied with a smile as he greeted Irina. He glanced at the busy Zhuo Ya and then back at the shy Irina: "When did you two come back last night?" 0

I returned home yesterday. 0

But last night, I went out to buy something, leaving Irina alone in the room. 0

Irina raised her small face and looked at him earnestly. "Actually, I've liked you for a long time. Uncle, you took me out to dinner and to the movies, bought me lots of gifts, and didn't mind my little quirks. I like you! I've liked you for a long time!" 0

The little girl bravely poured out her feelings to him, causing him to widen his eyes in disbelief as he stared at Irina. His lips moved a few times, but in the end, he couldn't find the words to say. 0
