In the video, Xu Weihua smiled broadly, while Xu Li brushed off some grass clippings from his pants. "Congratulations to you both, our two big stars," he said.
"By the way, Dad," Xu Weihua turned the camera towards a young girl beside him. "This is my girlfriend, Kamila Vayeva."
The girl had a chubby round face, with smooth, coffee-colored hair tied up in a loose ponytail. Her large brown eyes sparkled, and her moderately sized lips parted slightly as she shyly greeted, "Hello, Uncle."
"Hahaha, hello there, little girl! Make sure to let Oleg take you home sometime so you can taste what your Uncle and Aunt can cook," the man in the video said, making her feel a bit intimidated, but his hearty laughter eased her nerves. "Okay, Uncle."
Xu Weihua turned the camera back to himself. "Hehe, Kamila is now a rising star, Dad."
"Be nice to her; don’t be so carefree all the time. Come home and visit when you can; your mom misses you."
"I know, Dad."
After hanging up the phone, Xu Weihua put away his phone and scratched his head. "Want to come over later? I’ll cook a few dishes for you. Nikola and Angelina should be back soon too."
Kamila smiled at her boyfriend, who was just a year older than her, and linked her arm with his. "You’re about to become a star, yet you’re still so shy; that won’t do."
"Hehe."
He grinned sheepishly and took Kamila to his favorite supermarket. After buying groceries, he placed the change into a small red envelope. As they passed by a donation box, he dropped it in. Kamila estimated that the change amounted to over a thousand rubles.
Here in this area, over a thousand rubles was enough for a family of four to eat for two or three days. She tilted her head curiously and asked, "Don’t you feel bad about donating the money?"
"Not at all," Xu Weihua replied with a smile. "Although it’s not much, it’s my heartfelt gesture. There are definitely people who need it more than I do. Don’t you like it?"
"It’s just pure curiosity."
Kamila shook her head and thought for a moment before pulling out her small wallet. She took out a few rubles and stuffed them into the donation box as well, giving him a sweet smile. "I don’t know why, but after putting the money in there, I feel inexplicably happy."
"I felt that way the first time too; you’ll get used to it."
He held Kamila's small hand as they left the supermarket, chatting and laughing on their way back to the apartment. Xu Weixia and Angelina were cuddled up on the sofa when they arrived. The little girl pushed Xu Weixia aside and pulled Kamila aside to whisper secrets.
The two brothers shrugged and headed to the kitchen. Looking at the vegetables on the counter, Xu Weixia frowned slightly. "Big brother, are you planning to become a vegetarian?"
