Just then, a black car stopped in front of the two of them. As the window rolled down, a man in his thirties waved at Angelina, saying, "Get in the car."
"Got it," Angelina nodded but continued to look at Xu Weixia, who seemed a bit anxious and uncertain. "Should I think about it?"
"I'll wait for you at the school gate tomorrow morning," he said, pushing his bicycle to the back of the car. Xu Weixia hurriedly stepped forward to help fold her bicycle and stuff it into the trunk before closing it. She waved goodbye as the car drove away, feeling dazed for a long moment before scratching her head. "What should I do now?"
Maybe I should call Dad.
With a sigh, she headed back to her apartment. Inside the car, Angelina buried her face in her hands, hiding her embarrassment as she curled up on her knees. The driver glanced at the rearview mirror and smirked. "Miss, do you have someone special? I saw you take the initiative to kiss him."
"Uncle Ivan!" Angelina squeaked.
"You're so annoying!" she pouted.
Ivan chuckled and focused on driving. Soon, they left the city and turned onto a winding road with very few vehicles. Towering trees lined both sides, their branches heavy with snow. After a while, they passed a police checkpoint where an officer in uniform sat inside.
Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of an opulent mansion. After getting out, Angelina grabbed her somewhat heavy backpack and entered the house. "Mom! Mom! Where are you?"
A middle-aged woman in a bathrobe rose from the sofa to help her daughter out of her down jacket and playfully ruffled her hair. "How can a girl go to a boy's apartment?"
"Mom, I think I like him," Angelina said seriously as she looked at her mother. "He's really special. I used to just have a crush on him, but after spending time together recently, I've realized he's really great. He loves to tell silly jokes and seems carefree but is actually very thoughtful. Plus, he can cook! It's delicious."
"Oh, and he's really kind too! He often saves his pocket money to donate to charities. If I hadn't gone to his house, I wouldn't have discovered how many wonderful things he has."
Yelena took her daughter's hand and sat down on the sofa beside her. Seeing the mix of happiness and shyness on Angelina's face made her smile as she asked, "Do you know what his family does?"
"They run a ranch! His parents are also short video bloggers from China," Angelina replied excitedly as she pulled out her phone and opened an account she followed before handing it to her mother. "His parents sing beautifully! They even have two bears and a tiger at home!"
The little girl chattered away about everything she knew while Yelena listened attentively. After a while, she nodded and returned the phone to Angelina, pinching her daughter's cheek gently. "Go take a shower and rest; you have school tomorrow. Once you confirm your relationship with him, let me meet him."
"Bring him home?" Angelina asked.
Yelena covered her mouth with a laugh. "Of course not, silly girl! I'll have your dad rent a small apartment in the city so we can continue living as ordinary people until you two get married."
"Isn't that a bit unfair?"
Angelina always feels that deceiving others is not good, Yelena smiled and said: Little fool, if you tell the other party now that my family is an oligarch and my grandfather is even more powerful, what do you think the other party will think? He would be so happy and would hang around me all day.
