"Her father is a company commander, so don't even think about it," Yisha said.
Angelina shot him a glare. "It's just that she's a bit busty. She's not even as pretty as I am. What kind of eyes do you have? Besides, how much does a company commander even make? Aren't you looking for a wealthy heiress?"
"You don't understand how happy men can be," Xu Weixia replied with a smug expression. "Her dad might end up being my father-in-law. When that time comes, I can drive a tank and shoot live rounds. I can do whatever I want! During lunch today, Yisha actually smiled at me. She definitely has feelings for me."
"Your brother is getting cocky; come take a look!" Angelina shouted toward the kitchen.
Xu Weihua calmly continued washing the dishes. "Don't pay attention to him. Last week, Natasha from the next class nodded at him, and he was over the moon. The next day, he went to chat with her, and she didn't even acknowledge him."
"Hahaha, that's hilarious!" Angelina laughed until she could hardly breathe.
Xu Weixia felt a bit embarrassed and was about to argue back when his phone rang. He pulled it out to see it was a video call from his mom and quickly answered, "Mom, have you eaten yet?"
"I just finished, sweetheart," Eva said, watching her husband seriously playing the piano. "Your dad is composing right now; he's planning to write songs for you and Xiaohua. They’ll be really beautiful."
"Really?" Xu Weixia jumped up excitedly and ran into the kitchen, patting his older brother on the back. "Dad is going to write us songs!"
Xu Weihua smiled at Eva. "Mom!"
"Hehe, you two should wash the dishes," Eva said, looking at her cheerful sons on the screen. "When you come back for the New Year, Misha will help you record the songs. I heard he plans to write in several styles and languages."
"Mm-hmm!" The brothers nodded vigorously.
Eva watched her sons with affection and covered her mouth to laugh. "Your dad wants you both to get familiar with Chinese and English so you won't fall behind later."
"Don't worry, Mom! Our Chinese is excellent!" Xu Weixia assured her.
"And our English isn't bad either! Don't worry!" Xu Weihua chimed in.
"Okay, I’ll hang up now. I just uploaded a video; remember to give me a triple thumbs-up!"
After Eva ended the call, she leaned against her husband’s back and kissed his cheek. "Misha, your playing sounds amazing."
Xu Li smiled and continued practicing while in the kitchen, the brothers were still grinning foolishly.
"Let's go; I'll walk you home."
After finishing her homework, Xu Weixia stuffed two boxes of Wahaha and a few cans of Wang Wang Milk into Angelina's backpack and helped her carry it downstairs. The two chatted and laughed as they waited by the roadside for a taxi.
"Nikola, what do you think of me?"
Angelina's small face was flushed, whether from shyness or the cold, she tugged at Xu Weixia's sleeve, her expression serious as she gazed at him, her eyes flickering. "I mean it, Nikola. Ever since you transferred to our school, I've had a good impression of you. Would you consider being my boyfriend? I can support you when I start working."
"I see you as a brother!"
Xu Weixia's eyes widened in disbelief, meeting Angelina's sparkling blue ones filled with amusement. After a moment, Angelina took a step back, her cheeks turning bright red as she said, "My mom told me that when you like a boy, you should pursue him bravely and not leave any regrets. So, Nikola, I like you. Will you be my boyfriend?"
"I... I..."
The words caught in his throat.
