Angelina held a bottle of Wahaha, biting on the straw as she watched Xu Weixia drink the remaining beverage. Her cheeks flushed slightly. "I've already had those," she said.
"I know, but you didn't finish it. Throwing it away would be such a waste," he replied, looking at Angelina with a casual demeanor. Noticing her rosy cheeks, he paused for a moment. "Why is your face so red? Are you feeling feverish?"
He placed the back of his hand against her forehead to check her temperature. "You're not feverish."
"Just focus on cooking your dishes," Angelina said, pushing his hand away. She returned to the living room with the Wahaha, curling up in a corner of the sofa and glancing at Xu Weixia, who was busy at the stove, occasionally giggling to herself.
"Hey? Angelina, what are you doing here?" Xu Weihua asked as he entered and spotted Angelina grinning on the sofa.
She quickly explained, "Nikola lost a bet with me and treated me to dinner at your apartment."
"Oh, I see." He plopped down on the sofa and grabbed some washed cherry tomatoes to snack on. Angelina stared at him for a long while. "So you just came back like this?"
"Isn't that so?" Xu Weihua replied, scratching his head in confusion. "There were only girls inside, and they stared at me for a long time. Anna told me to come back first; she has training until late, and someone is coming to pick her up."
The two fell silent, absorbed in their phones. He called his mother, Anna. "Mom, have you eaten yet?"
"Not yet. Your dad went to the ranch; that big tiger came by again looking for food."
Anna adjusted the camera angle, revealing Eva in the kitchen wearing an apron while cooking. She waved a spatula at the camera. "Where's your brother?"
Xu Weihua turned the camera toward the kitchen as well. "He's cooking today."
Then he shifted the camera back to himself, inadvertently capturing Angelina behind him. Eva immediately perked up. "Is that little girl your girlfriend?"
Angelina, who had been playing with her phone, perked up her ears at this question. Xu Weihua grinned widely. "No, she's just a regular classmate who won a bet and came over for dinner."
"Make sure your brother prepares a hearty meal; we can't neglect our guests at home."
"I know, Mom."
After chatting for a while, Xu Weihua hung up the phone. Angelina leaned closer. "Big guy, which of those two ladies is your mom?"
"My mom is Anna; my brother's mom is Eva. They're both my moms."
He smiled at Angelina. "Our family situation is a bit special. Ever since we were little and just learning to talk, we were told that no matter who we meet, we should call both of them 'Mom.' We're one big family and shouldn't be divided."
"So, your mom and your aunt live with your dad?" Angelina felt her curiosity igniting. Xu Weihua nodded, "Yes, when my mom was little, she had a fever that damaged her brain, which affected her intelligence."
Later, my uncles introduced my mom to someone who was really good-looking, unlike my dad and brother, whose faces are all hairy and ugly. They all lived together, and before I was born, my dad once killed a bear weighing over a hundred pounds with a chainsaw to protect my mom.
"Is that true?"
