Anna pouted her little face, feigning a cry as she looked at her husband, who was shaking his head repeatedly. "Do you not love me anymore? Is this small request too much for you to fulfill?"
He quickly got up and pulled Anna into his arms, swaying her gently. "How could I not love you? Of course, I will do it."
Nestled in his embrace, Anna winked at Eva, and the two sisters exchanged a knowing smile before huddling together to whisper. Xu Li shook her head and headed to the kitchen. Upon opening the three-door refrigerator, she found it packed with vegetables and water.
After washing some vegetables, she sliced two tomatoes and chopped a carrot into pieces. She mixed them into a salad and took out a large steak from the freezer, weighing about two pounds. With a cigarette in her mouth and humming a little tune, she began to fry the steak.
When she brought the plate to the living room, the sisters cheered and quickly sat down. Eva smiled sweetly at the somewhat confused Xu Li. "Misha, you really know we haven't eaten yet; you made us steak!"
Xu Li's mouth twitched. Were these two women so dedicated to filming their so-called short videos that they would skip meals?
The three of them managed to have lunch together. Anna helped her husband shave while Eva went to find some props. Realizing there was nothing suitable at home, she went to borrow a complete Bearskin Cloak from an elderly villager. Passing by Peter's house, she noticed the industrious Maozi repairing his Low Fence.
With a quick thought, she approached Peter. "Hey, big brother Peter, can you help me out?"
Covered in wood shavings, Peter raised an eyebrow at Eva's peculiar outfit and lit a cigarette. "What do you need?"
"I need a large shield and an oversized double-edged axe. Also, could you roast them with a blowtorch and add some designs?"
"Sure, there's plenty of wood in the warehouse. Come back in two hours."
Peter grinned as he set aside the cut wood while Eva returned home with the Bearskin Cloak. Anna was still busy shaving Xu Li; perhaps due to geography and diet, he had thick body hair but not much facial hair—just a thick ring around his mouth and chin.
Eva gathered some suspenders and then asked Xu Li to change into black combat pants. Draping the Bearskin Cloak over him, with the bear's head resting on Xu Li's forehead, she wrapped the suspenders around him haphazardly. She then ran to the children's bedroom to find some quirky accessories to hang on his belt.
Finally, she took a string of Xiong Ya that had been hanging by her bed and tied it around Xu Li's neck. This Xiong Ya belonged to the brown bear that Xu Li had killed earlier. The sisters circled their husband, inspecting him thoroughly and nodding in satisfaction. Anna even gave him a passionate kiss. "Misha, now you truly are the dream lover of Slavic girls."
When Xu Li stood in front of the full-length mirror in their bedroom, he was taken aback by his appearance. Wasn't this just a barbarian look?
With a scarred face painted like someone who had been through fire and smoke, perfectly groomed facial hair, and a physique as strong as a bear’s—all complemented by this cloak—if he added an axe and a large shield, he would definitely be the real-life version of a barbarian from some online game.
Anna and Eva giggled as they headed to the warehouse to retrieve chains used earlier for tying up two large hamsters along with matching oversized collars. They fitted these onto the sleeping Xiong Da and Xiong Er before giving them a gentle nudge. "What are you sleeping for? Come out with us!"
The two Siberian Hamsters opened their sleepy eyes groggily and let out soft whines of protest.
