At noon, Xu Li was having lunch in the cafeteria when Valery contacted him via the walkie-talkie: "Makarov's Chi Bear is back. What should we do?" 0

The men sitting with him burst into laughter, and Andreev wiped his mouth, saying, "Haha, does he think our ranch is his personal kitchen?" 0

Xu Li thought for a moment and replied, "You keep an eye on it. We'll come over after we finish eating." 0

He then hurried his meal. "Let it be; having it watch over the forest isn't a bad idea. At least it won't let other animals come and cause trouble. The number of brown bears is dwindling, and we have plenty of food here." 0

The others nodded in agreement and fell silent; after all, he was the boss, and whatever he decided would be fine. 0

Just as they were finishing their meal, the walkie-talkie crackled again with Valery's urgent voice: "Hurry! The tiger we chased away has come back too. The two big guys are facing off, and I'm worried Low Fence won't hold. We should retreat." 0

Andreev got up to grab his gun. "Matej and Nikola, go check the Icehouse for any dead calves. Pull a few out to load onto the truck. Victor, come help me load apples and potatoes, and let's butcher a sheep while we're at it." 0

Everyone abandoned their meals and rushed outside. The women cleaning in the back kitchen immediately dropped their tasks to call their elders at home, urging them to secure the doors and windows upon hearing about the tiger. 0

Soon, a truck used for hauling hay rolled out, filled with men armed with weapons, heading toward the area where the brown bear and tiger had appeared. Along the way, they picked up a frightened Valery and three patrolling men before following Valery's pointed direction. 0

From a distance, they could hear fierce roars of beasts; it seemed that the two hungry giants had already engaged in battle. It was uncertain which side would come out worse. The brown bear had the advantage in strength, but the tiger was no slouch either and was far more agile. 0

When Xu Li climbed onto the front of the truck and steadied himself, he saw the tiger perched on the brown bear's back, biting into its neck. The bear was clearly at a disadvantage as it rolled on the ground. When it finally managed to shake off the tiger, it swatted at its opponent a couple of times, causing the slightly weaker tiger to snarl in pain. 0

Xu Li fired a volley into the air. The two beasts immediately released each other and turned their attention toward him. The brown bear recognized this generous human and took a few steps toward Low Fence with an almost pitiful demeanor before standing up on its hind legs and grunting. 0

The tiger regarded this human who had driven it away with keen eyes filled with authority, its hind legs slightly bent and front legs tense—ready to attack at any moment. Xu Li wasn't going to let it have its way; he fired another round into the snow in front of it. "What are you staring at?" 0

The tiger roared as it took a few steps back but still refused to leave. If there hadn't been any food in the nearby woods, it wouldn't bother coming to the ranch for luck. It was unfortunate for both of them; Xu Li and others frequently teamed up to hunt in those woods, depleting all available game long ago—there was hardly anything left for them to find. 0

"Give me that sheep." 0

He tossed his gun to Shayef and took half of a sheep that had been split in two. The sheep's hide was useful, so Xu Li quickly skinned it and tossed one half to the disgruntled brown bear while holding onto the other half. He waved it at the tiger: "From now on, you better behave like this one here—squat down and wait for me to feed you. If you dare cross Low Fence, I'll shoot you dead and take care of your cubs." 0
