Eva bit into the apple, her eyes wide as she looked at Xu Li. "There are still so many watermelons in the cellar. I haven't had any for three days!" 0

"We should save some for the New Year. Mom loves watermelons too; we can't deprive her of that. Let's plant more next year, shall we?" 0

Upon hearing that they were saving some for their mother, Eva stopped her fussing and quietly continued eating the apple. Finally, she pouted and opened her arms. "Carry me back to the room." 0

Xu Li chuckled as he picked up his wife and carried her back to their bedroom. After covering her with a blanket, he returned to the living room and spread his arms wide. "My little princess, do you want me to carry you back to the room?" 0

"Forget it! I'm not as shameless as Eva. I'm too old for that," Anna scoffed as she headed back to the bedroom. Xu Li shrugged and was about to follow when a small white figure curled up in the corner of the sofa suddenly leaped into his arms, quacking in a voice reminiscent of a duck: "Gaga!" 0

If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he would have thought it was a duck quacking, Little Guy mused. Scratching under Little White's chin, Little Guy purred contentedly as Xu Li carried him back to the room and placed him in his little nest. Little White clutched a large bottle with all four paws, drinking milk, while on the sofa nearby, Xiong Da and Xiong Er sprawled out soundly asleep, tongues hanging out. 0

After taking a drag from his cigarette in the kitchen, Xu Li heated up a pot of lamb soup, tossing in an entire Lava fragment to simmer until tender. He added lamb blood and meat before letting it cool slightly and carrying the pot through the long corridor to the Boiler Room. 0

Old Da Hei raised his head and grumbled at Xu Li, "I've already eaten my fill; why are you bringing me more?" 0

Xu Li squatted down and patted Da Hei's head for a moment before pointing to a pure white Caucasian lying in a pile of grass. "Your little wife is about to have puppies; you need to eat more for nutrition. Stop being stubborn and let her have the meat while you eat some mushy stuff. Who are you trying to impress?" 0

"You should prepare something for us too," Da Hei shot him an eye roll. 0

Xu Li chuckled as he poured a pot of lamb soup into a large feeding bowl, dipping his finger in to check the temperature. "Little Flower is having a late-night snack." 0

"Smells good!" 0

The pure white Caucasian slowly got up and began eating heartily from the bowl. Xu Li pulled over a small stool to raise the bowl higher and then reached out to stroke Da Hei's head. "Little Flower is gone now; Xiao Hei and Da Huang are gone too. You're all that's left from when we lived together, old buddy." 0

Da Hei remained silent but gazed gently at Little Flower. After a long moment, he lifted his head and licked Xu Li's cheek. "I've lived quite well in this life. The old master cares for us greatly, and you and those two silly girls care for us too. I'm luckier than many others of my kind." 0

"This is what you deserve," Xu Li replied, scratching Da Hei's chin before patting Little Flower's head. Soon enough, Little Flower was full, burped contentedly in Xu Li's palm, then nestled back into the corner to rest. Da Hei finished off Little Flower's leftovers quickly. 0

He added firewood to the fireplace, patted Da Hei on the head, turned off the lights, and left with the soup pot. Da Hei curled up beside his wife, licking her swollen belly gently before closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep. 0
