Xu Li tucked away the marriage certificate and then pulled Anna and Eva into his embrace. He planted kisses on both of them before turning to the camera and smirking, "Instead of reporting me, why not put in some effort to get married yourself? Find a wife to keep you company, so you won't be looking for trouble all day!"
A prompt clarification from the authorities followed, clearly indicating that Xu Li had not registered his marriage with the two sisters, so their arrangement could only be considered cohabitation. It wasn't illegal, but it certainly raised eyebrows.
A month passed in the blink of an eye. The original row of wooden cabins had been expanded by Xu Li into a large house. Shayef wiped the sweat from his brow and took the cigarette Xu Li offered, lighting it up. "As per your request, I've installed a new large boiler at the back of the house. From now on, if you want to expand further, all you need to do is extend the pipes. The soundproofing materials are already in place. Take a look and see if there's anything else that needs changing; we can continue modifying it."
Xu Li strolled around the spacious house. The original study remained untouched, while the newly built cabin was divided in half—one side designated as a new study and the other half as a music room and recording studio, ready for equipment installation.
As he surveyed the area and distributed cigarettes to everyone, he nodded in satisfaction after checking everything: "Looks great, thank you all."
"Don't mention it," Shayef waved his hand dismissively as he began to tidy up. To accommodate Xu Li's expansion of the cabin, the entire village had pitched in. Building in the dead of winter was no easy task, but with many hands making light work, they quickly brought firewood to melt the ice, digging down layer by layer as they burned it away. They simply transported logs from the forest.
A few men gathered tools and scrap wood while women came in with brooms and buckets to clean up. Soon enough, equipment was being carried in by the men; they installed and adjusted everything over a day’s work until it was all set.
After enjoying a hearty dinner together, everyone took home the large red envelopes prepared by Xu Li, happily settling in for winter. Xu Li rubbed his hands together and headed to the recording studio to record his very first song.
While recording, he didn’t forget to set up cameras; he found it cumbersome to use his phone constantly, so he installed several fixed cameras in the studio for easy filming. He just needed to edit it later instead of fussing with his phone all day.
"Oh oh oh, Heroic Spirit Hall calls me," Eva sang out in the recording studio. After finishing her part, she glanced at her husband who was deep in thought outside. "Misha, do you think this will work?"
Xu Li exhaled a puff of smoke. "Everything's good until now, but during the ending part, your voice wasn’t steady enough. Let’s try that again; Anna, pay attention to your harmonies."
"Your standards are so high," Eva pouted as she began to adjust her emotions. Meanwhile, Anna cleared her throat and waited for her turn in the music before slowly starting to sing. Eva provided harmonies alongside her; compared to Eva's powerful voice that could reach high notes effortlessly, Anna's voice had a richer depth.
The sisters practiced their parts repeatedly until they realized it was past ten at night. Xu Li clapped his hands together: "Alright, make sure to practice more when you have time tomorrow; it's time for some rest."
He got up to turn off the equipment and left a small opening in the fireplace for warmth before leading Anna and Eva into the living room where he served them sliced apples. "Eat some apples after using your voices; many people from Huaxia swear by this method."
"But I want watermelon," Anna replied.
