"Dad, you didn't take me to Irkutsk this time."
The next morning, Anan woke up early, holding his phone and filming the enormous kitchen before him. A girl with golden hair, just like her mother’s, dashed into the kitchen and wrapped her arms around Xu Li's sturdy waist, acting cute.
With big brown eyes that sparkled like little fans and a small nose above a pouting pink mouth, her chubby cheeks were puffed up in annoyance. Xu Li turned down the stove and picked up the girl: "You didn’t even brush your teeth after waking up; your breath is terrible."
"Ha! You didn’t take me to play!" she pouted.
Xu Li chuckled as she cupped his face with her small hands and blew air at him. He wasn’t bothered at all and smiled back, leaning down to kiss her forehead. "How about I make your favorite fried rice cakes? Just for you."
"I don’t want that! I want roasted lamb! Yesterday, a ram butted me with its head. Dad, go roast it!"
"Let’s eat breakfast first, okay?"
"Fine."
Xu Li spun his daughter around a couple of times before setting her down and pointed at Anan, who was filming. "Say hello to Uncle."
Zhuo Ya glanced at the plain-looking Anan and politely nodded. "Good morning, Uncle." After greeting him, she brushed her hair back and headed to her bedroom. Xu Li smiled at Anan. "This is my daughter, Xu Jiajia. Here, everyone calls her Zhuo Ya."
"Brother Xu's niece is really beautiful," Anan remarked.
Xu Li grinned as he continued frying eggs. "The child looks just like her mother."
"When I first came here, I could eat a lot. My mother-in-law would fry me a whole plate of eggs every morning, followed by milk and beef." He stirred the millet porridge while frying the eggs. "Those crucial years of my physical development were thanks to my mother-in-law preparing three meals a day with great care."
"She and my father-in-law treated me like their son, so naturally, I took care of them in return. We Chinese people value this!"
Anan nodded in agreement. "Absolutely."
After serving his father-in-law and mother-in-law breakfast, he tossed some thawed pork to Xiong Da and Xiong Er. The two brown bears finished eating and wandered into the yard under the apple tree, picking up fallen apples and stuffing them into their mouths. Finally, they drank a basin of milk mixed with honey before basking in the sun contentedly.
After capturing everything on camera, Anan quickly ate a few bites himself. Just then, Zhuo Ya was also having breakfast; the little girl had quite an appetite. She had a large piece of medium-rare steak, two poached eggs, a serving of vegetable salad, and a big glass of milk.
Anan had eaten more than half of the steak and found himself unable to continue, while the little girl in front of him cleared her plate with ease.
Andrei chuckled and said, "Zhuo Ya, if you keep eating like that, you'll easily turn into a little pig."
"I need to eat more and exercise so I can protect Grandpa, Grandma, and Mom in the future," Zhuo Ya replied earnestly.
The obedient granddaughter Natasha happily pulled Zhuo Ya into a hug, showering her with kisses on the cheek. Xu Li, after finishing her tasks, finally joined them at the table for a meal.
A large platter of beef disappeared in no time; she devoured fried eggs one after another, complemented by cherry tomatoes. Zhuo Ya piled some vegetables and smoked meat into her Lava sandwich and then handed it to Xu Li.
Anan estimated that she had consumed at least two pounds of beef, ten fried eggs, three thick Lava sandwiches, a bowl of cherry tomatoes, and two large cups of milk.
