As she ran back, ignoring Xu Li's words, she turned her head and saw Misha charging at the brown bear, throwing a punch at it, scattering dirt in the process. Fear gripped her, and she couldn't bear to look any longer. 0

"Foolish girl," Popov muttered, stamping his foot anxiously. He raised his voice, shouting, "Hey, guys! There's a bear in the woods! Misha is in danger!" 0

Soon, Yurian galloped out from the Cattle Shed, clutching several gun straps in his hands and distributing them to a few of his comrades. Popov mounted his horse, and the two of them hurried towards the woods where Andrei was felling trees. 0

If Misha got eaten by that bear, Natasha would surely faint from grief. 0

Popov's unprompted remark made Yurian nod in agreement. They both knew how Xu Li had come to be here; he was a solid and hardworking young man. Who knew if they would ever find another child of such quality? 0

They needed to search the woods. 0

Yurian tossed a dirty tablecloth onto the ground and, armed with a rifle, he and Popov plunged into the forest. The massive footprints on the cloth sent chills down their spines; those prints indicated that the brown bear weighed at least four or five hundred pounds. 0

Popov grabbed Yurian, who was looking around nervously, pointing at the footprints and claw marks in the mud. They followed the tracks around several trees for nearly half a circle before veering off into the woods for about fifty meters. 0

The two old men watched as Xu Li lay pinned beneath the brown bear. They raised their guns to shoot but hesitated when they saw that the bear remained motionless. As they cautiously approached, they breathed a sigh of relief and tossed their rifles behind them to roll over the half-mangled bear. 0

"Quickly turn him over!" 0

At that moment, Xu Li's bloodshot eyes were dazed. Popov stripped off his shirt and tied it around Xu Li's abdomen before lifting him onto Yurian's back. They hurriedly carried him out of the woods and helped him onto a horse. Yurian held him tightly against his chest as they galloped towards the village. 0

Popov stayed at the edge of the forest, waiting for others to come and deal with the aftermath. 0

When Xu Li, looking like a blood-soaked rag doll, was brought before Andrei, the old man felt dizzy and had to steady himself against a wooden post. "He's still alive," Popov urged him to gather his wits. 0

"Natasha! Get the medicine box from the nightstand!" 0

He shouted as he unlocked a storage door and pulled down a camouflage tarp, revealing an old armored vehicle. After starting it up and revving the engine, it roared like a beast. 0

Andrei warmed up the vehicle before opening its rear door and stepping into the yard. He took the tear-streaked medicine box from Natasha's hands; inside were plastic-wrapped syringes and several small vials. 0

Unsure how long Xu Li could hold on, he quickly grabbed two vials and injected them into Xu Li. Once the medication was administered, he discarded the syringe and joined Popov in lifting Xu Li into the armored vehicle. While Andrei was injecting him, Natasha rushed back inside to grab two blankets to tuck in with them. 0

The two old men laid out the blankets inside the empty armored vehicle before carefully placing Xu Li down. Popov stayed in the back to support Xu Li while Andrei slammed on the gas pedal, driving out of the storage shed and onto the bumpy dirt road towards Bratsk. 0

As for the small town hospital ten kilometers away, it slipped his mind; there was no blood bank there. He remembered that Xu Li had Panda Blood type—going there would be a waste of time; it was better to rush straight to Bratsk. 0

The vehicle bounced along the muddy road, nearly sending Popov and Xu Li flying out of the back. Popov leaned against the metal wall with one foot braced against it while cradling Xu Li in his arms. 0

Looking at the young man's puffy face, marked with creases and lines, he couldn't help but sigh. He felt a deep admiration for this brave Little Guy. Not everyone has the courage to face a bear weighing several hundred pounds, especially when armed with only a chainsaw. 0
