"This is a great opportunity for you, and you're still not happy about it? Hmm?" 0

Yuri glared at Xu Li with wide eyes. Just as he was about to say something, Natasha patted his shoulder, causing him to step aside in frustration while glaring at Xu Li. His sister was as cute as an angel, yet this kid was pretending otherwise? 0

When Anna and Eva were younger, they went to play in the woods while Andrei and I were planting potatoes. The two girls must have eaten something strange because when the dog led us to them, they were lying on the ground, unconscious, with their mouths dirty from fruit juice. By the time we got home that night, they started running a fever. 0

Natasha sighed. "We're too remote here. It takes over an hour by car to reach the nearest health station. When we finally got there, the doctor couldn't find anything wrong and just gave them two bottles of fever-reducing medicine. The fever subsided shortly after we returned home, and we didn't think much of it until we gradually realized their mental state..." 0

"To be honest," Xu Li interjected just as Old Andrei returned to the room. The whole family turned their attention to him, which made him feel a bit pressured. "Actually, after leaving Uncle Andong's place yesterday morning, I had no idea what to do next. Saying I was going to Moscow for school was just to comfort him; Uncle Andong cares about me too much and is afraid I'll go astray." 0

He looked down at his plate. "Since my dad abandoned me, I haven't had any thoughts of continuing my studies. I was bullied at school, and when I returned to the apartment, I was all alone. A couple of days ago, after being reported by a guest, I planned to go somewhere else to clear my mind." 0

Truthfully, he didn't know what path he should take in the future. 0

Xu Li glanced at the twins across from him and then locked eyes with Natasha beside him. "Your daughters are beautiful. As for me, a poor kid with nothing to offer—honestly, I don't deserve them. I can't do anything; if they follow me around while you take care of them, I think I'd live comfortably." 0

"But what if you and Uncle aren't around? How would a nobody like me take care of them? Would they have to worry about where their next meal comes from? Da Mao is such an outstanding young man; he's much more suited to look after them than I am. Maybe I should just continue wandering." 0

Suddenly, the sound of a bullet being chambered shattered the silence in the room. Old Andrei had somehow produced a firearm from nowhere and pressed its dark muzzle against Xu Li's temple with a cold smirk. "You sly little Chinese brat! Those words were indeed touching, but that last sentence is what you really meant, isn't it?" 0

Oh no, I've been found out! Did I not sound sincere enough? Should I shed some tears? 0

Xu Li slowly turned his head and saw Old Russian smoking a cigarette while holding the firearm with a mocking grin aimed at him. "When I was young, I traveled all over and met all kinds of people. You think you can fool me? Hmph!" 0

"Hey now, let's talk this out nicely," Xu Li said as he pressed down on the gun's muzzle. The cold metal felt very real against his skin, making him break out in a cold sweat on his back. "What I'm saying is true! For over a year now, I've just been messing around in Uncle Andong's kitchen; even the dishes I've made are unappetizing enough for me to eat myself—let alone serve anyone else." 0

"Besides," he continued nervously while glancing at Natasha's daughters again, "look at my small frame compared to your daughters; they're so much stronger than me! One of their thighs is thicker than my entire leg! I'm still just a kid!" 0

There was something else he didn't dare say: when sunlight fell on the twins earlier, the fine layer of fuzz on their faces and necks was far more than what he had on his own body—how could he even approach them at night? 0

"Hmph! My daughter is the same age as you; you're both just kids! You should spend more time together!" 0

Old Andrei seemed to have figured it out; this brat before him clearly thought his daughters were too chubby. He should take a good look in the mirror himself—was he any taller or bigger? 0
