I smiled as I gently scratched her nose. "The Little Prince isn't even a month old yet; he can't be exposed to the wind."

Lian'er recounted the events once more.
Consort Chen's face turned pale with shock upon hearing it all.
"You vile creature, how dare you conspire against Consort Xie!"

The Emperor's expression darkened with uncertainty.
The Empress cast a glance at Consort Chen:

"This is what Consort Liang sent over," said the attendant.

"She collapsed and died the next day."
The Empress nodded. "Someone, go summon all the physicians from the Imperial Medical Bureau."
Half an hour later, all the physicians arrived at Kun Ning Palace.
Lian'er took out the remaining red dates for them to examine.
As expected, the red dates were found to be laced with poison.
Consort Chen's face changed dramatically. "This Concubine believes Sister Liang did not do this on purpose."
"This must be a misunderstanding!"
Consort Liang trembled in fear.
Suddenly, a maid beside her rushed out and slapped Lian'er across the face.
"You vile creature, how dare you attempt to harm Consort Xie!"
"What nonsense are you talking about? When did my master ever send red dates?"
"This must be your collusion with some wild man outside, trying to harm my master!"
The Empress nodded. "Someone, take this maid away and execute her with a beating."
Everyone was taken aback.
Qiu Yue was the first to react, calling two guards into the room. They swiftly dragged the maid out.
Before long, the maid was executed outside Kun Ning Palace.
Everyone fell silent, as if frozen in fear.
Consort Liang trembled in terror.
She wiped her tears and looked at the Emperor, saying, "Your Majesty..."
The Empress turned to Consort Liang and asked, "Consort Liang, do you have anything else to say?"
Consort Liang sobbed, "Your Majesty, that maid was my personal maidservant."
"I beg you to spare her life for the sake of my years of service to you."
The Emperor snorted coldly, "If you plead for her, I will have you dragged out as well."
Consort Liang choked on her words and dared not speak further.
A chill ran through me.
It was evident that the Emperor supported the Empress's decision wholeheartedly.
From this, it seemed that he held no feelings for Consort Liang.
