"Don't, let him come get it himself. I don't want to bring him breakfast every day."
"Nuan Nuan, please help out a little. You know Zhi Yan gets uncomfortable eating outside. Auntie really can't manage anymore," Aunt Lu's voice echoed from the doorway.
Fine, for my dear Aunt Lu, I guess I have to accept my fate.
After all, Aunt Lu's braised pork is tastier than what my mom makes.
And Aunt Lu always brings me gifts when she returns from her business trips, which I really appreciate.
Sigh, from now on, I'm going to have to live a life of delivering breakfast to Shen Zhiyan. Just thinking about it is annoying.
After waking up and groggily getting ready, I bit into the sandwich my mom made and carried the breakfast for Shen Zhiyan as I walked to school.
I ran into Shen Zhiyan waiting at the corner of the street. "Here, breakfast for you."
Shen Zhiyan took the breakfast and looked at me as if he wanted to say something but hesitated.
"What's wrong? If you have something to say, just say it. Being coy isn't your style."
"You've got something at the corner of your mouth; wipe it off." I quickly wiped my mouth.
"Hey, hey, hey, you didn't clean it properly; it's right here." As he spoke, Shen Zhiyan's hand gently brushed against the corner of my mouth.
My face instantly flushed red.
I quickly pushed him away.
"What are you doing? I told you to speak properly; why do you always have to touch me?"
I shouted loudly, trying to cover up the sound of my racing heart.
Oh no, could it be that I've developed feelings for Shen Zhiyan?
Looking at his neat short hair glinting with a hint of brown in the sunlight and his deep-set eyes, I recalled what my deskmate Xu Xiaoxiao had said: "Don't you think Shen Zhiyan is really handsome? Like a male lead straight out of a comic."
I had laughed and teased her about her infatuation back then, but now I found it hard to look away.
"Hey, what's wrong with you? Your face is so red; are you sunburned?" Shen Zhiyan waved his hand in front of my face.
I snapped back to reality and swatted his hand away. "Hurry up and eat; we're going to be late!"
With that, I hurriedly started running, wanting to escape this place filled with blushing cheeks and racing hearts.
The wind whistled in my ears, and my hair danced wildly.
“Little Bear, it’s still early!”
Shen Zhiyan also started to run after me.
During the lunch break, I wanted to hurry home, but I was caught by the quick-witted Shen Zhiyan. With no choice, I had to walk home with him, my mind racing as I dared not look at him, fearing he might notice something.
When school ended in the afternoon, I was just about to dash home again when Shen Zhiyan caught me once more. How could this person run so fast?
“Little Bear, why do you always run away when you see me?” Shen Zhiyan asked, puzzled. We used to walk home together all the time; why was I running away now?
“Hmph, it’s because of you! Your exam scores are better than mine, and my mom nags me about it every day.” I casually made up an excuse to brush him off.
“Your grades aren’t that bad; you’re just too lazy to study. If you actually put in the effort, I wouldn’t be able to keep up with you.”
Looking at Shen Zhiyan’s serious expression, I almost believed him.
Oh well, I might as well obediently walk home with him every day to avoid being found out...
After lunch, Shen Zhiyan came over with a math book.
“Little Bear, I analyzed it, and your grades are only slightly lower in math. From now on, let’s go over what we’ve learned together every noon, and your scores will naturally improve.”
My mom overheard and said, “Really? Zhi Yan, if you have time, please help Xiao Nuan out. I see her math homework and it gives me a headache.”
“Sure, Auntie. I’ll keep an eye on her.”
He then sat down at the desk waiting for me. Shen Zhiyan, are you really going to do this?
