In the top-level private room of the Drunken Immortal Tavern, Ao Tian shook his glass and said, "This wine is top-notch Bi Yun Chun. Brother Qing, you really know how to treat us."
Su Wenxin gazed out at the neon lights and remarked, "This place must have its own significance, right?"
Located in the highest business building in the city center, the Drunken Immortal Tavern is regarded by ordinary people as a high-end restaurant. In reality, it is one of the most secretive trading venues in the cultivation world.
"Indeed," Qing Chen poured wine for both of them. "The barrier here is the most secure."
Ao Tian grinned, "So we can speak honestly tonight?"
"Likewise," Su Wenxin replied as he took his glass. "You haven't spoken a word of truth since you started pretending to be drunk."
"How could that be?" Ao Tian raised his glass. "I am very sincere."
Qing Chen looked at him with skepticism. "Do you even believe that yourself?"
The waiter brought out the dishes. What appeared to be ordinary food was actually made from celestial ingredients infused with spiritual energy.
"Shall we eat first?" Ao Tian picked up a piece of meat.
Su Wenxin scoffed, "Are you going to enjoy your social beating?"
"That's unfair," Ao Tian said with a look of grievance. "I wouldn't dare pull any tricks on Brother Qing's turf."
Qing Chen replied calmly, "Every dish here has been inspected by me."
"That's good," Su Wenxin elegantly picked up some vegetables. "It saves certain people from trying to stir up trouble again."
As the three of them ate and chatted, the atmosphere was oddly harmonious.
"So," Ao Tian put down his chopsticks, "who's going to start?"
Su Wenxin turned to Qing Chen. "As the host, please go ahead."
"Alright," Qing Chen nodded. "I am the head of the Pure Mystic Temple."
"Pfft—" Ao Tian nearly spat out his wine. "You're that living immortal?"
Su Wenxin was also taken aback. "The legendary Pure Mystic Temple lord who can attain enlightenment in a mortal body?"
"The rumors are mistaken," Qing Chen shook his head. "I'm just an archaeologist studying ancient civilizations."
Ao Tian rolled his eyes. "Come on, I've read your papers. The lines are all about enlightening people, okay?"
Su Wenxin raised an eyebrow. "You actually read papers?"
"What's wrong with that?" Ao Tian replied, slightly annoyed. "Can't I have some academic pursuits?"
Qing Chen interjected, "Is that really the point here?"
"Right," Ao Tian said seriously. "It's my turn. Actually, I am..."
"The number one playboy in the cultivation world, known as the 'Mad King,' Ao Tian," Su Wenxin chimed in. "The one who specializes in driving the elders of various sects crazy."
"Cough," Ao Tian said awkwardly. "My reputation isn't great."
"Same here," Su Wenxin said, swirling his drink. "I think you all know who I am."
"A rising star in the tech industry, a mysterious figure in the cultivation world," Qing Chen remarked. "It's said that you stand out in the modern cultivation field."
Ao Tian interrupted, "The key point is that I'm single."
"......" ×2
"Let's get down to business." Su Wenxin set his drink down. "You all heard that voice yesterday, right?"
The atmosphere suddenly turned serious.
"Yeah," Qing Chen nodded. "It was the Ancient Will, but not entirely."
"It felt like it was being controlled by someone," Ao Tian said, unusually serious. "And... it seemed to know us."
Su Wenxin pulled up a segment of data. "According to the analysis of the energy fluctuations, that voice contained some sort of special information."
"What kind of information?"
"A prophecy."
Qing Chen's expression sharpened. "Are you saying..."
"Exactly." Su Wenxin looked at both of them. "The Ancient Prophecy: 'Three Fates on the Same Path.'"
Ao Tian suddenly stood up. "Impossible! That prophecy isn't..."
"Already fulfilled?" Qing Chen finished for him. "Clearly not."
The room fell into silence for a moment.
After a long pause, Ao Tian sat back down. "So that's why the three of us are here together?"
"Fate has brought us together," Qing Chen replied.
Su Wenxin scoffed. "You believe in fate?"
"I don't," Qing Chen said as he poured drinks for everyone. "But I believe in data."
"Interesting," Ao Tian raised his glass. "So how do we proceed from here?"
Outside the window, a streak of light cut across the night sky.
The three of them turned to look outside. That light was coming from the direction of the ancient ruins.
"It seems," Qing Chen stood up, "we won't have to decide after all."
"Here we go again?" Ao Tian sighed. "I’m not even full yet."
Su Wenxin had already pulled up the data. "The energy fluctuations are ten times stronger than yesterday."
"How thrilling," Ao Tian said with a smile as he drew his sword. "This meal is on me."
Qing Chen: "......"
